Could it add positively to both fighters legacy regardless of who wins or who loses?

i.e Leonard v Hearns, Duran v Hagler etc.

Jim Lampley on Hearns loss to Hagler -
"His image as a warrior is further enhanced. Hearns career proves that great fights can establish a fighters greatness whether the records shows he won or loss."

Can we apply this to the fight?:think

depends on the outcome i think. if it is a very close fight i think so, otherwise one side might be discredited by some.

At this point, PacMan is no longer in his prime. This fight would have been freaking awesome two-to-three years ago. Now? PacMan's mind, body, and foot is halfway out of the ring. He may do whatever it takes to make this fight happen because I think he is looking to "cash out" so to speak.

I think it could for both fighters. At least the "win" would put an esclamation mark or 5 on both fighter's career's.

Well if Pacquiao won it would definitely enhance his legacy , although not as much as it would have 2-3 years ago. If Mayweather wins not so much because Pac has looked very faded recently and 'lost' his last fight. Either way I think this fight is closing in on its expiration date, if it hasn't already expired.

Those saying it would mean NOTHING to either guy ...understably is just frustrated because it should have happened a couple of years ago..

however a win by either would do wonders for their legacy...

    BUT...

it would have done more a couple of years ago...

Manny was on a roll vs big welterweights, didn't have a loss since Morales and brutally KOed Hatton...now Manny hasn't looked spectacular vs Mosley, Marquez III and Bradley...then has a loss on record vs Bradley...so a win by Floyd would render the asterisk of Manny was on the downslide.

Floyd was still nimble on his feet and in less outside of the ring trouble..after beating Mosley who was coming off of the destruction of Margarito was probably the best time...now Floyd is viewed as skilled, but slowing down, caring more about stuff outside of the ring, was in jail and he may be negatively affected by it after having a career of controlled training the way he wants...Manny winning would give an asterisk that Floyd was out of his prime as well

those reasons are why I think it would be a great fight...maybe they've both slowed down just enough to make an entertaining fight that might call for a rematch

By the time it happens it won't be near as meaningful as it would have been at the beginning of 2010, regardless of who wins.

Yeah, but when was Floyd at his absolute Peak: Mentally, Physically, and Technically?
It was from 130-140, and maybe the early part of his WW career.

Floyd hasn't been exactly "Prime" all these years either. He continues to win because of his Boxing I.Q. and Boxing Technique. All that Physical Phenom ability isn't the same and hasn't been for some time.

It's also why I thought "maybe"...just "maybe"...that could have made Floyd hesitant to fight Pac and wanted him drug tested since Pac was able to continue to move up in weight and still show remarkable physical ability while he declined.

Some would simply put this down to use of Modern Science/Nutrition by his S&C coach (and his team) but Floyd put it down to PED use.
On a side note to this, let's give J*stin Fortune some credit for starting to rebuild Manny for all those years. Ariza gets to much credit.

That's why it's so important that it simply be an entertaining fight with a winner...entertaining enough that a rematch isn't out of the question

both might as well just cash out
