I saw an article not long ago in the ring (i think), that compared PBF to Robinson as Floyd had recently made a comment stating he was better etc. It stated that Robinson fought LaMotta, GIVING AWAY 16 POUNDS! Robinson got beat on points in what was his 40th fight (same as Floyd right now). Three weeks after he fought the 16 pounds heavier man again and outpointed him and in between the three weeks knocked some other guy out, just for the hell of it.

The equivilant could be, Floyd fighting Pavlik (who was middleweight champion at the time), losing a close decision, coming back three weeks later and beating him and knocking Matthew Hattonm out in between, just for the hell of it!

Can you see Floyd ever doing stuff like this?

SRR and Lamotta fought one of their rematches with like 2 weeks in between. Old timers did not **** around.

Robinson beat La Motta , Kid Gavilan, Gene Fulmer, Carmen Basilio, Randolph Turpin, Bobo Olson, Rocky Graziano, Jose Basora, Charlie Fusari, Jimmy Doyle, Henry Armstrong, Marty Servo, Fritzie Zivic and sammy Angott amongst others (some of them several times.
His peak saw him amass a record of 128 - 1 - 2 a record only bettered by Willie Pep.
He held the World Welterweight championship (only 1 title at the time) for five years, held the middleweight title five times (first ever to achieve this feat) and was a round from winning the light-heavy title from Joey maxim when he was stopped due to the heat.
He also won all 125 of his amateur bouts and won 109 of his 201 pro bouts by KO.
Robinson could Infight, Outfight, could box moving forwards and backwards, had a good defence, had knock out power in both hands, great footwork, could box his way to victory and could go toe to toe.

Floyd Mayweather Jnr has defeated Juan Manuel Marquez, Arturo Gatti, Ricky Hatton, Oscar de La Hoya, Luis Castillo, Diego Corrales, Zab Judah, Sharmba Mitchell, DeMarcus Corley and Carlos Baldimir.
He has won all 40 of his proffessional fights to date, 25 have come by KO.
Floyd is known for his excellent defence and counter punching in which he can pot-shot his way to victory. Although not acknowledged for being a KO specialist he does have good punching power when relied upon, excellent footwork and ring movement. has been questioned for his lack of heart at times and also for fighting naturally smaller opponents.
Floyds amateur record was 84-6. Floyd has won World titles at Super Featherweight, lightweigh, light-welter, welterweight and light middleweight (4 world titles were present at each weight)

I think if you look at the evidence you can see that Mayweather is a class act who has amassed a brilliant record deserving him the title as one of the best boxers of this generation (will be the best if he can beat Mosley and Pacquaio) but in comparrison to Robinson he still has a long way to go to catch up with him. The opponents on robinsons record are far superior to the opponents on floyds record (Mosley and Pacquiao would bridge the gap) and robinson was also willing to fight people who weighed significantly more than him (Maxim, L Motta) whereas floyd has been the one with the weight advantage (Marquez, hatton)

I think Robinson knocked Pep out in the amateurs. He only had 10 minutes notice for the fight. I think this is true, not too sure.

Sorry mate. If you want the truth, I know it sounds thick but im trying to figure out how you guys take a post and break it up, keeping the quote in the seperate boxes whilst you write what you want to write between. Whenever I try it it puts a box around everything. Sorry to interupt your discussion
