I am not trying to bash Floyd but he leaves me no choice he should retire from boxing because boxing is a brutal sport which doesn't fit his agenda of being pretty boy-he will join the dancing with the stars again and wresting mania whatever they call it.
Floyd nuthuggers in previous threads I've read they believe his Legacy is already set in stone and he has faced plenty good opposition to be remembered as one of the greats... supposedly....
I think Floyd is waisted talent. He is absolutely a technician in the ring, but needs to finish his career fighting the best fighters out there.
Just like RJJ, 2 of the most talented boxers to ever lace them up but wasted their skills and far underachieved from what they could have been.
Easily!!!! Christ!! Top 100 and then some!!! Ignore the fact that he acts like a complete knob most of the time and just consider his performances in the ring. The man is a great boxer!
He would be considered one of the best 130 pounders of all time and a considerable H2H threat at 135 and 140. He won't be considered a great welterweight, and his talent and heart will be questioned due to his refusal to consistently test himself against the best of his era. All of his ducking, cherry-picking, excuses and boasting will leave a bad taste in the mouths of many fans and historians and will tarnish his legacy.
Superb analysis!! The difference is RJJ was prepared to "Take a chance" and "Shoot for greatness" in a way that Mayweather has never been willing to. Which is why RJJ will rank some way higher on my ATG list than FMJ. As a fan of boxing and Floyd Mayweather Jr, it is frustrating to realise that we will probably never know just how good he really is, because the only accurate gauge for "Greatness" is fighting another "Prime Great", which is something Mayweather does not appear willing to do!!
