If Mayweather still doesn't get respect, how can anyone expect Broner to?

    With all that Mayweather has accomplished in the sport of boxing, and still does not get the credit he deserves, how can Broner?

    I'll be the first to admit, that I thought Broner would stop Paulie last night, I'll also admit I was a little disappointed in his performance, not because he didn't stop Paulie, but because he had chances in the fight and chose to play the "you can't hurt me game", rather than really going after Paulie.

    Having said that, it was a good win for Broner none-the-less when you factor in that he went up two divisions, fought a tested and proven veteran fighter with good boxing skill, and doing this in Paulie's backyard. Broner and Mayweather suffer from what I'm going to term Labron-itis, meaning, no matter what they accomplish, it's never going to be enough to satisfy critics.

    Normally winning, will quite most critics, however in Mayweather and Broner's case, it only creates more. So it's not surprising to me that if Mayweather still draws the type of criticism he does, Broner's still a long way from silencing his. Thoughts.

    You are talking like the very person that you are describing. People are going to always have critics because it's a known fact that you can't please everyone. Broner is still raw at dealing with the public so he has a ways to go. However I don't see that in Mayweather's case. He has his hard core critics and haters which he can't do anything about but when his picture was flashed on the big screen, there was a loud roar of approval from the crowd and that speaks for itself.:bbb

    @Bandeedo

    Your exactly the type of fan that I'm talking about. Instead of making your argument based on boxing, you make it about his out of the ring behavior, typical.

    it is typical, thats how the world works. you can take responsibility for your actions knowing they will affect how the world views you, or you can complain like a child about how unfair it is to be judged for your mistakes. certain types complain about everything and the world goes on not giving a ****.

    @Manfred

    Of course you can't please all of your critics, but it never fails, when either fighter succeeds it only seems to draw more criticism. I'm speaking more to the criticism Broner received after defeating Paulie. Instead of getting credit for a quality win under the circumstances, it's brushed over, like the rest of his accomplishments in boxing. Did Broner knock down a moutain last night, no, but it's a quality win for the youngster.

    In terms of Mayweather it's still the same old song, he defeats quality opposition, and it's always about who he hasn't fought. Before the Guerrero fight, even greats like Marquez were saying things like, if Mayweather does not fight Guerrero than it's a clear duck, then Mayweather totally outclasses him, and it was a cherrypick. Now Alvarez is on deck, another guy Mayweather was supposedly ducking, and once again, it's a cherrypick.

    I don't dislike Broner he is very good and can maybe improve. My only problem is people saying he is the future of boxing or the commentators comparing him to mayweather as if he is equal to floyd. He does not have close to the talent of Mayweather. Floyd sr. said the same thing, he gets hit way too much to be compared to Floyd. They may have similar styles but Broner has a lot to learn. And yes many people do niot give Floyd the credit he deserves but some people who know boxing are honest enough to admit he is the best alive.

    In my opinion Broner is coming to an era in boxing where we are now seeing the fights the fans are asking for more and more oppose to the previous years. Even Floyd is currently fighting fights that are the best option and opponent wise for the fans. Sooner or later Broner is going to fight who the fans ask for and start getting more respect, because the kid does have talent. We just have to see when someone puts him in trouble and see if he has what it takes to become a great fighter not just a good fighter.

    I don't like Mayweather. But he has earned tons of respect. Mostly he has been knocked for his choice of opponents. But that's sort of settled with Canelo in my eyes.

    The same will go for Broner if he keeps on winning. Well actually I have respect for Broner inside the ring already. He is a talented fighter who is not afraid to be aggressive. I'd rather see him stay around 140 or lower for awhile longer though. I don't think he needs to rush the 147 division so soon.

    I hear you but you seem to referring these busters on ESB,:lol: that **** don't even count. Mayweather gets plenty of respect from his peers and the media. He did change his rhetoric which is a result of him getting older and wiser. Broner is still young and raw but what people don't understand is that he is brutally honest and that's what hurts him. What you see is what you get with him. I'm surprised Mayweather haven't sat him down and given him the benefit of his wisdom. He will learn and I hope he doesn't have to pay a terrible price. He needs to keep on winning and keep and open mind for the wisdom when he hears it.

    Mayweather's an ATG, and I have plenty of respect for his head to head ability.

    It's sad that Broner gets mentioned anywhere near the same sentence because Broner is nowhere- NOWHERE- near the talent that Floyd is. One of the most generous things Floyd's done is help build this kid up by using his own name.
