floyd actually praised Pac a few years ago, said he's one of his favorite boxers to watch, packs a helluva punch.

But there is only one way to settle this Margarito vs. mayweather debate. Let em fight and settle it the old fashioned way. Margarito is willing. Hbo wants it. All boxnig fans want it. But phloyd's staunch reluctance and refusal is the only obstacle.

see thats the thing Chin. Mayweather would fight Margarito but is he really champ?? he didnt fight Williams again so Mayweather wont fight Margarito because ppl would say " Well yeah Mayweather beat Margarito but Williams was the real champ anyways!!!" you know that will happen, so until Margarito has the nuts to fight Williams or even Clottey again Mayweather wont fight him because he wont be reconzied champ.

Wrong. You won't find another big man who throws 100 punches that carry significant power per round. All you'll find is a big guy who pressures.

This is the short of it.

I've stated my position many times before, the basic conclusion being that Margarito is slow and plodding which won't work against the quicker, more agile, and simply better Mayweather. Margarito gets countered over and over again en route to losing in a lopsided fight.

floyd would win the first 2-3 rounds comfortably, beating margo to the punch and not staying in front, but margo will close the gap like he did with cotto, who i think had a far superior jab to floyd's. margo starts taking floyd's best punches and just walks right through them and starts landing some of his own, especially to the body like castillo did when he got robbed vs. mayweather. i don't think floyd gets beat like cotto did, he is defensively superior to mostly everyone today, but the fight i think will end up looking like the first castillo-mayweather fight all over again, with margo being the winner by SD.

I here that for real but it is very doubtful that Margarito is going to step upto 154 or 160 to chase Williams and it is highly unlikely that Williams will ever campaign again at 147 especially if he ends up going all the way upto 168 because he would need to pack on a bit of muscle mass and to come back down to 147 he would have to butcher his body up to make weight and would probably be a weaker version at 147.

Margarito vs Clottey again, Clottey looks good for the 1st 4 or 5 rounds then Margarito wears him down and wins a decision, I think it will be the same result as the 1st fight, even if Clottey has both of his hands in good knick.

I would like to see Clottey vs Someone at WW but he seems to have gone quiet...

I think Arum is calling the shots so we cant sit here and say that its Margarito avoiding fights. I think the type of guy Margarito is, he would fight Clottey in his mums kitchen if he had to, it wouldn't matter to him.

I understand the logic that you presented and I can see what the hold up is but there is no doubt in everyone's mind that mayweather needs to fight this guy whilst he is at the top of his game so that nobody could say he took him when he was shot or some other excuse.

The only wins off the top of my head throughout Floyds entire career that really impressed me were

    Genaro Hernandez
    1st big test

    Diego Corrales
By far the most impressive performance considering the opponent and the risk he took but as he put it himself Corrales was not on his level but I liked the way he dealt with Diego - R.I.P

Jose Luis Castillo 1, not 2
Fight 1 was impressive because he had to fight with hurt ribs and bad shoulder and was up against a bigger dude.

    Demarcus Corley
He had to weather the storm

    Zab Judah
I liked him defensively in this fight.

The rest of his fights were foregone conclusions in my opinion
    purely for entertainment value...

meaning they were not really any fights I can look back on and say that it was a real challenge.

Not to take anything away from his achievements but thats just the way I see it.

I grew up watching all types of fighters and when he hit the scene it was something new and young and fresh and the hype was big.

It sort of reminds me of the hype Jeff Lacy was receiving over in America until Joe Calzaghe had to eventually school him and sent him packing back to America...

If Mayweather is truly supposed to be great he now has a chance to really solidify his greatness by staring adversity in the face and overcoming it.

2 more Career defining fights is probably all he needs, possibly 3 if he feels to push the boat out...

I've got to admit though, everytime Floyd turns it on he looks awesome, the main thing I like about him is the fact that he has a sick boxing game. He thinks on his feet real quick but that is where Margarito would force him to think even quicker with mad pressure. Not sure if Pac would even get close enough to land anything on Floyd, as soon as Pac flies in Floyd would nail him.

I think the Pac scenario has been completely over hyped, Floyd would take care of him no problem. I would bet my mortgage on it, his boxing brain is too smart for Pac...Light years above Marquez.

That fight is another foregone conclusion.

    You just mark my words.

Floyd has already disected Pacquiao's errors.

I can even predict a stoppage between rounds 8 and 12.

He normally susses you out in the 1st to 4th round

starts to put more mustard on his shots in the 4th

and after 8 or 9 rounds the concentration of his opponents tend to be less and they are normally good to go just like Judah would have been if it wasn't for that low blow in the 10th.

The reason why he cant get them out of there sooner is because he would have to expend more energy early which is not what he wants to do, he wants to leave something in the tank for each round, that is another reason why I say Margarito would in effect make him work harder than he has had to.

There are many carbon copies of Margarito out there ... his punch output isn't the big issue.

I think you find sparring partners that has a simular style ... The fighter doesn't have to be 5'11 and throw 100 punches ... He can have one sparring partner who's a pressure fighter, one who's 5'11, one who throws a ton of punches, one who throws wild winging shots. And please don't think for one minute that there's not someone out there that doesn't fight exactly not Margarito ... rather it be an amateur or a seasoned pro.

Margarito isn't anything special ... he's been beaten 5 times ... there are ways to beat this man, he's not unbeatable.

I'm sure Floyd would prepare for every possible scenario ... and would make the neccessary adjustments during the fight.

There isn't and his output is a big issue. You may try to paint him as a wild man in the ring who only walks around winging punches but that isn't the case at all. Nobody fights like Margarito and thats a fact.

There's a better chance to find a carbon copy of Margarito than Margarito finding a carbon copy of Floyd.

You may be sure, but each day that passes without a fight I get the feeling that Mayweather isn't so sure about the outcome. Nobody's denying that Margarito is beatable. What you can't seem to grasp is that everybody is beatable, even Floyd Mayweather Jr. Margarito's style forces people to dig down deep to another level to beat him he is by no means easy to beat. If Zab Judah warranted a shot at Mayweather coming off of a loss than Margarito has done more than enough.

    really now?

angulo doesnt have similarities with margarito?

    edit: no no

    matter of fact

your trying to tell me that theres not someone from welter to middle

that cant throw 100 punches per round while sparring?
in between switching sparing partners? with a focus on uppercuts?

Margarito is a very good fighter, no doubt about it. I would like to see Margarito Vs. Mayweather, but looks like Mayweather is more interested in Wrestling now.
