That's the trouble with these pound for pound debates: they assume speed and agility for smaller fighters stays the same, but that their punching power and resilience magically increases to match the higher weight class they're fighting in. You end up creating a superhuman that no actual fighter in history can compete against. No one ever conceives of it the other way round, a heavyweight moving down to a lower weight but keeping his punching power and punch resistance intact. Think of the damage even a guy like Hughie Fury could do to a featherweight if he landed on him.

The obvious answer to this is: if Floyd was 240lb with the same quickness he had at 140lb, there would be no more HW division because they'd all retire rather than get killed against him. End thread.

 

Floyd's speed at heavyweight.... Nobody would even come close to landing on him. He would rule the division with ease.

However, it is a silly debate. That's the problem with P4P match-ups. It's very far from an exact science.

 

The "perfect formula" to test p4p would require a stupid amound of math and science. For example if a 120 lb fighter A has reflexes of 10 ms and 120 fighter B has 9ms, for each lb put on it would have to decrease at a rate that would make sense, etc. Same with power, if the punch has a velocity of xxx and the impact of xxx lbs per sq inch, it would increase with each lb etc... bottom line, it would require someone with an absurd amount of time that also has the brains.. good luck with that

He wold lose to the heavy hitters of his era. He'd have a significant reach disadvantage and his-in the-pocket counter style wouldn't be enough to keep a heavyweight honest. Floyd stays in the pocket often. A heavy would just lean on him and hammer him. Floyd isn't a big hitter, but he has enough pop to keep a welter weight honest. A heavy weight would laugh at him.

Now, if you scale up his reach and power and kept the same small guy speed, then obviously he'd be superman.
