Wouldn't they have made negotiations with Arum after the Marquez fight? That's how making fights normally goes down right? You can't just come out of nowhere and say here's the date and venue without discussing it with the other party right? And what's up with Mayweather saying "Pacquiao? I didn't even know I was fighting him," hours after Ellerbe came out with the 5/5/2012 MGM fight date?

I've listened to an interview with Arum and even though I think Arum is becoming senile, he brings up some interesting points. There is a protocol you have to follow in making a fight of this magnitude to maximize revenue. Start listening to the interview at the 11:15 mark.

So do you think us boxing fans have been taken for another roller coaster ride of emotions with this tactic to gain power of the fight?

    Your thoughts?

    p.s.
I honestly think the main powers behind the negotiations is Arum and Richard Schaefer and not Mayweather. Because fact is, Mayweather is under Golden Boy promotions and even though he does have a lot of pull being the cash cow of that company, everything ultimately has to go through Schaefer.... or that's what I think anyway.

Watch the 2 minute mark, Mayweather said "If he wants a rematch, he can get a rematch" and then he looks at Richard Schaefer and he subtly nods his approval.

Exactly! The thing is, Floyds fanboys are so rabid they don't see that, no matter how much sense it makes. All they see is Arum and him being mad. And since Floyd hates Arum, they hate him too. It's ****in stupid.

If somebody had a countdown clock you, shouldn't you try to work it out. I mean Arum told the whole world that Floyd had a deadline and Floyd was no where to be found lol.

Floyd isn't forcing them to negotiate. Both teams were reluctant to call and Floyd wanted to fight on Cinco De Mayo next year. So he told them about his comeback and he said that he wants to START negotiations with pac's team and they'll do everything in their power to get the fight done and I guess them setting a venue and setting was their way of showing they were serious

at the video, my reaction live was, he looked at Schaefer because he was about to snap. So he thought about it, then he started talking ****.

As for Floyd announcing it before the Pac-Marquez fight, get the limelight? well why not wait till fight week or couple days before the fight, and not announce it 2 weeks before?

Also I think its because IF or when Pac beats Marquez, ARUM will again manipulate the media, and say Floyd's a coward, chicken, blah blah, another excuse to make another Pac-Mismatch fight... Why wont ARUM pick an opponent not under TR or a Free Agent? its because he gets both % of fighters. Easy sell, easy money.

I dont see anything wrong with what Ellerbe announced, that Floyd is fighting on May 5th, they want the "little fella" if not Pacquiao, then another opponent. What if Ellerbe instead says, "we want to fight Pacquiao in 2012, then its again wrong in their part right?

But the good news is that Floyd is fighting on May 5th, If not Pac, then its Martinez. IMO
Rumoured negotiations weeks ago, Martinez says theyll wait couple of weeks to announce it. Probably waiting for the outcome of the Pac-Marquez fight.

Yes there is a protocol, but Team Pac has nothing to lose if they take the challenge. Seriously, does it really matter where they fight? Fans just want to see it happen...doesn't matter whether it's MGM Grand or Cowboys Stadium. Pac fights sometime in the Spring anyway, so the date shouldn't be that big of a deal.

I don't understand why anybody but Arum is upset about Floyd doing it before the fight. Can someone explain this to me?

And this **** has literally been less than 72 hours and everyone is trying to kill the fight before they can negotiate.

Floyd hasn't really went the traditional or LOGICAL route in negotiating a fight with PAC for whatever reason. From the begining it's been a complete Ship Wreck. Floyd never had negotiation lapses before but for Manny...he somehow thinks that disrespecting, slandering and taking stabs at his character were the best way in ensuring this fight happen.

come on neither Floyd nor Arum have gone about this in a sane way. It's why this whole "who's afraid of who" dance is nonsense. If you can't see that EVERYONE involved has played a role in sabotaging this fight, you're not being honest.
