Let's say Rahman is looking to get back in the mix, and calls out McCall, thinking he can beat the elderly warrior. Impatient with the WBC and unimpressed with Rahman's latest performance, Oliver accepts. It is the battle of men who carry victories over Lennox Lewis (and losses too). Who wins?
Man, if it happens today, McCall by KO. Rahman would need to be in tip-top shape to stand a chance, where he'd have to keep McCall on the end of that long jab all night and go for the points win. Anything less than Rahman's very best and he gets whacked, even by an old slow McCall. Put it this way, Sykes-version Rahman is having a short painful night.
I would say Rahman, if he's focused and well-trained. Rahman looked not all THAT bad in his last fight against Maskaev and if i'm not mistaken he was ahead on the cards untill Maskaev revived that old nightmare... I haven't seen his recent fight with Sykes, but 261 lb is a disgrace for his frame. He was around 235lb against Toney and Maskaev which seemed a good weight for him, he had a pretty good punch ouput which was one of reasons he beat Toney. McCall, on the other hand looked pretty mediocre in recent outings. Can't blame him considering his age, but i think Rahman would box his way to a decision if he shows up around 230 pounds. He was
Rahman would have to be in shape like he was against Toney, I dont think he is right now. McCall by kO.
Just when you think Rahman is completely shot, he produces a decent performance. I thought Tua would blow him out in the second fight, and he boxed pretty well. I would say Rahman has better overall skills as a boxer, but Mcall is hungry, in shape and still carries a rock solid chin. I would probably lean towards Mcall. They are both about even on a skill level. B to B- type fighters.
I haven't seen McCall's recent fights, but I think if Rahman shows up in shape and fires out that jab he can win a decision.
Rahman in a near shut out. McCall is not very good this time around. Not to take anything away form his past preformances but he is barely B grade this time around.
I was thinking it may be close, or even going McCall's way, assuming that Rahman is mediocre and boring again.
