...how do you think the G-Man would've fared at Super Middleweight against the likes of Collins, Eubank, Nunn, Toney & Jones Jr?
Ok Jones Jr was a God, the others were dieties in there own rights, Eubanks pre Watson would have beat him, he would have beat Collins, Nunn and Toney were to slick for him. But he would have fared well in the divison
I'm sure i heard he was having headache's before this fight, If Benn had not gotten back into the ring then maybe a medical could have found the problems with McClellan and he might of hung them up before being tragically brain damaged. without the injury McClellan vs Jones would have been a hell of a fight.
He had major limitations that were going to catch up with him soon. If Benn didn't do it, someone else was going to - Jones or Toney, perhaps even Eubank. Still, his power and ferocity would've made him a threat to anyone until that happened. But if it's true that he entered the Benn fight with some sort of injury already, that would've made his prospects very bleak indeed.
it wouldnt of mattered he got the brain damage from julian jackson all it needed was one or two clean powerful shots in the right place to trigger it
i think people woyuld start rating him above RJJ in H2H. after jones got KO'd by tarver they would have sed G-man would have destroyed him. I disagree thou
I remember reading that G-Man had a win over RJJ in the amatuers, still gotta favour Roy though despite a semi suspect chin. A 100% G-man beats all the British lads & Nunn. If anything I think Toney gives him the most problems because he's constantly in the pocket, G-Man liked to load up throwing wide arching shots.
I think people tend to overrate G-Man because of the tragic circumstances that surround him. Of course he was a great fighter, but let's not go overboard as to his abilities. This is also the case with Corrales..... I don't think he would beat either a peak Benn or Eubank. If Benn can take his shots, albeit he was decked and badly hurt, Eubank would smile at him..... the pre-Watson II Eubank beats him clearly, post-Watson II does in a close fight.
