I here HBO has hired the rapper "Ra the Rugged Man" to conduct the post-fight interview - who will probably start the interview by saying something like "Het Mother F__cker, when ya' gonna' stop ducking Pacquiao?"

Mayweather on the 1st ep of 24/7 already said hes not doing a post fight interview with Merchant, says he rather go to the backstage.

Think Floyd was heard to say: "Won't do the interview if they have that mean man Merchant"

Merchant was so unprofessional in last bout Mayweather had, he should not be working fight.

Merchant has been very Anti-Floyd and anti-pure boxers throughout his career. There's too much static between the 2 now and Floyd is saying he won't give Merchant an interview, so it will probably be Kellerman doing the interview.

John commentators being dictated too by a cash cow isn't a new thing, Arum's star fighters for instance have traditionally been given favourable commendatory, Delahoya being a prime example. Floyd is a primadona but powerful and he will get his demands met

Your reading too much into it.

Let's hope for kellerman, or if not, who cares.

There's still a post fight press conference.

Since when does a fighter -- 900-pound gorilla, or not -- get to decide who interviews him, PP? Instead of an interview, why not just let Roger Mayweather cheer-lead.

Convinced Merchant will get the nod. (let's compare notes when the announcement's made) Might be more PPVs for Money-Merch than the main-go.

You know the unwritten rules of journalism John, keep the interviewee happy and respected if you want subsequent interviews. If you wrote an overly critical piece on a boxer would you expect return interviews? There's a reason so many boxers dislike Merchant, they see him as disrespectful and overly critical. There's a balance between objective criticism and what Merchant often does, he also has a bad habit of doing his job under the influence of alcohol

Given the PPV's have effectively become 'The Mayweather Show' and Mayweather and GBP pretty much run the show is it a surprise they want to choose their interviewer?

And no I'm all for objective interviews but HBO have shot themselves in the foot by trying to create PPV stars instead of trying to put on sporting tournaments

Personally I prefer British boxing coverage over the American as British pundits are actually ex-boxers who have a better understanding of the sport

Mike Wallace -- abrasive as he was -- shattered that rule; and by pushing --taking them out of their comfort zone -- got subjects to reveal what they didn't want to.

To me, the best interviewer's Bob Costas. But there's too much pressure and not enough time in a post-fight interview for his low key let-him-hang-himself-with-his-own-rope style.

interesting....he looks at schafer more than once

merchant doest seem to be antagonizing him here but the way he asks the questions or whatever makes floyd think he is

the emotions were high and in a way it almost seemed like Floyd was almost worried about his reputation

Did you not see Mario Lopez interview Pac in his last fight on HBO?
