As alot of you members said, if Cotto beats Margarito then he should be place over PBF due to PBF fighting non WBC contenders. Oscar and then Hatton again. This could take a total of a year combined with the fact that he has not defended his WBC title in over a year and a half. It is not fair to the WBC contenders to wait for all these named stars to sort everything out. If I was rated number one, I would want my duly just right to fight for the title. PBF is a great fighter, but I don't think the linear title should be in LIMBO for this long.

 

I already have Cotto as the #1 welterweight in the world. His resume is sparkling at that weight whereas Mayweather's is spotty at best. Normally I'd overlook any fighter and automatically insert Floyd as the top fighter in the particular weight class he's fighting in but I just can't do that with Cotto around.

 

It doesn't have to be accepted by everyone, but I embrace the concept of "Lineal Championship" because of it's tradition, because there is a line of Champs that is far more valid than the one of the ABC orgs and their strippings.

Of course, there can be Champions that are inactive and do not defend the title of their weight class in years -it has happened-, but history will judge them. :good

Cotto should undoubtedly be the #1 WW and maybe even #1 p4p. He has made a believer out of me that he is a great fighter. He has already beaten an elite fighter in SSM and other very good fighters like Zab, Torres and Corley. He is an elite fighter who is just working on his ATG status now. A win over Margo would cement that, but I don't think he would beat Margo.

Mitchell was a tune up. By the way a prime Mitchell beats Urkal, Gomez and possibly the Quintana that showed up to fight Cotto any day.

Another dumbass...that was not the elite SSM. It was a slower version. Floyd beat Zab, and Corley. If you watch the fight Floyd beat Corley in a way more convincing fashion and when Corley shook Floyd he finished that round on the canvas. Cotto took a full round to recover. Check your stats son. P4P is what it is Pound 4 Pound, your TOTAL resume vs. everyone elses. Dont judge Floyd on just his WW because as of this moment Cotto has not fought or beaten any MW. Floyd has case closed.

This is gonna be a great fight! And Cotto can be beaten by Marg! What was great was Cotto was in there against a guy who is "B" level! Cotto getting the decision against Mosley gave him great confidence and it showed in this fight with Gomez!

Cotto looked GREAT! He dominated and showed what he has as a complete boxer. He was able to showcase and dazzle the crowd. But Margs preformance was better IMO. He showed that he still has a lot of power himself. That he can take it very well to the body and his chin is just stupid. I can't even talk about how study Margs chin is. Kermit can BANG. He was landing FLUSH and Marg just ate it....then came back and took kerm's heart. The fight was over in the 2nd round.

Cotto will do a hell of a lot better than Kermit did but ultimately I see Marg KOing Cotto. YES! I'm calling it now. Antonnio Margarito will beat and I think KO Cotto when they meet in July. IT will be WAR But from what I saw I say the styles will favor Margarito.
