I agree that p4p is taken very seriously but its the only way of finding out who people think are the best fighters in the world, which is important cause there is no official ranking system.

But even this system requires so much speculation, and not only that, it seems as if it has to deal too much with default. When another guys loses.

Roy Jones was p4p #1 in 2003, then Hopkins became #1 when Roy lost to Tarver. It wasn't like Hopkins was going great things. He had a win over a highly overmatched Morade Hakkar, a solid win over William Joppy, and then a win over Robert Allen. And then Floyd takes over once Hopkins loses his spot after the first Taylor fight. And Floyd's fights during this period weren't exactly that great, given the caliber of oppositon. A solid win over lower-end top 10 Corley, dominating win over highly overmatched Bruseles, dominating win over overmatched Gatti (although he did have a belt and was highly rated by The Ring), and a win over highly overmatched Mitchell.

IMO the main purpose for a lb 4 lb ranking is to acknowledge the success of the athletes globally as a whole. It gives them a purpose to strive and push themselves to be globally recognized as the most talented and accomplished fighter in the world. I think lb4lb should focus more on accomplishments rather than ability though.

I'll be very impressed . . . I'll put him ahead of Manuel Marquez in my P4P list. Why? Because that's a lot more impresive than JMM's fight result against Pacquaio.

I'm not expecting a blow out in this fight. It's gonna be a total war with both fighters getting hurt.

I'm a huge Cotto fan and a huge Margo fan at this point I do feel that Margo could give Floyd a going over much like Castillo did. But Roger Mayweather is right. At this point no one really knows how good margo is. Or how effective he would be against the top in the division. All we can do is come up with theories about how he would match up. So i see the cotto margo fight as more of a meassuring stick for Margo then for Cotto. Thus if Cotto blows margo out he goes up in my books but maybe not as much as he would if margo was more of a known quantitiy.

If he stops him early-mid rounds and gives him a good beating and dominates before the stoppage then he jumps to #1 on my welter list and #3 on my p4p list.

P4P is more or less a joke IMHO. It's meaningless. It's touted by fans who's fave happens to be near the top spot. Now when we add in some of ESB's H2H P4P bull****...it just makes less and less sense. But hey, cool way to sound like youi know what you're talking about.

Because hes a serious fighter and hes a top fighter in the 147lb division. Domination should move Cotto to #4 easily.

I would say top 5 P4P easy, and that's because Cotto would have almost single handedly cleaned out the WW Div in such a short time.....Which to me says a whole lot about Cotto's skill and level of talent.

As a boxing fan I want this to be a "WAR" our generations " Haglar vs Hearns" but as a Cotto fan......I want Cotto to make a statement and leave no doubt in anyone's mind....Who the number 1 WW in the world is.

Not to mention a Cotto vs PBF fight would then sky rocket into espn level of hype. Which in the end is even better for boxing.
