If Tyson beat Lewis in 2002. I would have to conseder Tyson at #1 at heavyweight. I have him at #5 as it is and Lewis whois #4 on my list would drop to the 8-10 range.

Depends on when the fight would have happened. Personally, this is a fight that should have happened before Tyson's exile, or immediately after.

It would have been a good fight if Tyson didn't end up going to jail and it happened during those years.

The Tyson that Lennox Lewis beat doesn't help Lewis' standing or diminish Tysons.
Mike was far from his prime and had no business weighing 240 lbs for that fight and Lewis should have finished him earlier.

Tyson still ranks inside the top 10 all time, and is one of the biggest could-have-beens in the sport.

I think the fight would have had a greater impact on Lewis's resume from a negative standpoint than it would have had on Tyson's from a positive one. Both men were past prime by this point, though I firmly believe that Tyson was further a bit further beyond his best by virtue of his style, physical defficiencies compared to Lewis's and the fact that he lost 4 years of his career to a prison sentence. Had Lewis been Ko'd by Tyson, folks would have said that he lost to a man who was more past prime than he was, and while it definately would have boosted Tyson's legacy, I'm not so sure that the impact would have been as career effecting

If Tyson won, he becomes a lock for the top 3 imo and would rank above Louis, imo. Depending on how he won he might rank over Ali, too. Lewis ranks in my top 5 and a win over a fighter of that caliber would do wonders.

I think some of these answers are frankly ridiculous given the ages of both fighters. This wasn't a prime to prime match up, both were in their late 30's. I agree, though that I Tyson win would have hurt Lewis more than it would have elevated Tyson. A 3rd KO by a past prime Tyson may well have taken Lewis off most peoples top 10 list. As it is even the 2 KO's he suffered has done removed him from some. A Tyson win should at most move him 2 places from where he currently is, given the age of Lewis, who was 35+.

Some have speculated on a prime for prime match up. That's a completely different story. A Tyson win in that match up would at the very least, define Tyson as always being a prime for prime better fighter than Lewis and likely would have kept Tyson in the top 5 while Lewis would likely never have cracked the top 10.

Gotta say , around top ten mark.... with Lewis being very similar in rank...

Mike was on his way to immortality when Douglas derailed him... It was the first broken rung on the ladder he eventually slipped down........ Mike was the success story of the decade and more , then he became todays prime hard luck story of rags to riches to rags again.. Tarnished or not , Mike was indeed a very special man .......... Mike in his prime ( v Alexis Stewart ) would have ran half of the past atg's out of the ring double quick time... I think those of us who watched his rise first hand will have to agree..

No way Tyson would be #3 after beating Lewis. If he did, Lewis would be considered "shot" fighter at that time and past his prime. Beating past prime boxers doesn't make you great fighter.

If tyson at that stage of his career would have pulled off a win against lewis, he would definitely have to be ranked #5 or 4 in heavyweight history. The abilities that made him such a special fighter were diminished by that time, and if he had won it would have to make you wonder how many fighters could have actually beaten him.
