    If Mike Tyson had stayed focused for a couple more years and shortened his punches to the extent that Dempsey and Louis did.........

    Short compact punches were never Tyson's problem and I'd dispute his punches were less compact/explosive than those 2.

    Tyson's problems were losing head movement, defense, not jabbing his way in, losing stamina, focusing etc OH AND facing huge HWs far bigger than him too

    Honestly he missed the last lesson of his aprenticeship.

    Dempsey and Louis developed the ability to go rapid fire with 12" of breathing space. The 12" rapid punch combination is the most powerfull weapon ever weilded in a boxing ring.

    If Tyson had refined this to the extent that they did he would have taken out Smith and Tucker. There would have been next to nothing you could do against him.

    Actually, Jack Dempsey was NOT a sharp puncher like Joe Louis was. Joe Louis was the sharpest of all punchers.. Mike Tyson was close to Louis back in the late 1980's, but as Tyson aged, his punches grew wider and more telegraphed...:hat

    Dempsey was sharp but that is not the issue.

    What made Dempsey leathal with a capital L was the fact that he could go the entire fight with picture perfect combinations and never throw a punch that traveled more than 12" unless his target got 13" away from him.

    Tyson couldnt do this, even Louis only perfected the art late in his career.

    Tyson sucks. Who cares if his punches were constantly thrown as short as his dick with devastating consequences.

    Jack Dempsey was NOT a SHARP puncher............. So he threw a few perfect punches in his day----Whooppeeee..... Dempsey often lunged and winged shots from left and right field..... I have too much film footage that tells me so, too.......... I love J.D., but he was not a regular sharp puncher... Peace...

    Gene Tunney couldn't bust an egg, yet, Tunney had better precision with his punches than Dempsey ever had...

    The world trembled anyway. It would have gone for much longer afterward if he had just kept his incredible ability. Wouldn't have mattered how big they got. They would have just fallen harder.
