If Mikey swerves L² (Loma+Linares), he can make amends by fighting Porter, Crawford, Thurman, and/or Spence. He's already called out all four.

If Mikey dominates at 140 or fights a top fighter at 147 I have no complaints, since Mikey would destroy everybody at 135 anyway.

Loma beats him. Linares is a 50/50 scrap.

@Paranoid Android I think Mikey dominates Linares to a mid-rounds stoppage. Loma kicks Linares' ass, too. Garcia-Loma is the competitive matchup, by my lights.

I disagree. Matched against Linares, Lomachenko will have a foe in front of him who is multifaceted and brings different looks along with a significant height advantage. Against, Mikey, Lomachenko will be facing a guy who has great fundamentals, but is essentially basic and maybe even robotic. And since Mikey's punches come at a clip that is borderline telegraphic, Loma will be able to adapt very quickly.

    I can't call Lomachenko-Linares.

I say Lomachenko UDs Mikey or gets clipped and KO'd.

Lol STFU Linares is a glass jaw glass skin fraud, won't be competitive against Garcia

Linares boxes Mikey's ears off. Yes, Mikey could also open up a cut w/ a single jab. There's a reason why Mikey swerved Linares... And settled on Lipinets!

I've never observed much in the way of facets in Linares. On the contrary, lack of facets would be one of my criticisms of him. He's an athletic stylist with rather limited adaptability and questionable durability. I greatly favor the fundamentals and steady hand of Garcia over anything the Venezuelan can do.

I also don't agree that Mikey's output is telegraphed, however straight up and down he might seem at a glance. His timing is one quality that sets him apart from a guy like Linares.

That said, I'm not carried away with any of these guys. I just think Garcia and Loma are a grade above Linares in their respective ways.

Linares was pitching a shut out against DeMarco until DeMarco opened up a huge cut on his nose and it started going downhill from there.

Really? Linares is one of the great counterpunchers of the game, but due to the lack of punishing power, this is often overlooked. He's just as fluid as JMM in how he laces them together. He can brawl and he can box and he incorporates good head movement.

The greatness of Mikey's timing has been greatly exaggerated due to B level opposition. Watch the Broner fight. Watching Mikey throw his left hook to the body was painful. It was slow and any elite fighter would punish him for it. And this was against a guy who loves to cover up.

140 is a dead division. There's some talent coming up but there's no strong champions right now. I'd rate Mikey dominating 135 over him dominating 140 right now.

Regis Prograis might have something to about Mikey being able to dominate 140. From what I’ve seen thus far, Prograis looks headed for the high risk/low reward label very soon.
