If Miquel Cotto retired today would you say he is a hall of famer?

I'd say yes based on a combo of popularity and being a 3 weight champ. No sure thing though.

What's the percentage of 3 weight champions not getting in?

His style, resume, titles and exciting fights like Torres, Pac, Corley, Margarito 1. Clottey should solidify this guy

and if he makes it a fight or wins vs Floyd then definitely

KT was a unified World Champ. That carries more weight then just titles in divisions.

But IMHO, Cotto's on the cusp. Probably get it though.

Cotto has a better resume and has fought the best (biggest names) out there (win or lose) that kind of stuff in always considered a good thing when it comes to the HOF.

yea of course if he beats floyd he is a shoe in.....the IBHOF is alot more lax on who the put the hall so he may get in....Curtis Cokes, Kostya Tszyu, and Graziano made it and their resumes aint all that.

maybe not first ballot, should he be in if he retired today is the better question.

Only Hofer on his resume is a still very tough but older Mosley. He did have some great war, is a national hero.

Please educate me on what a beast Kostya was :dead i'm ignorant of his HOF worthy resume and accomplishments. Maybe you could also redirect me to a thread on how Kostya would be a nightmare for any 140lber throughout history

true he does have a better resume than Tsyzu...if thats the case should Hatton get in too? he did only lose to the best 2 fighters of his era with titles at two weight and 1 lineal

Hatton will get in, and part of it will be due to how popular he was.

Sure, can agree to an extent. Bust just fighting the biggest names shouldn't really be factored in so much as winning.

Otherwise Emmanuel Agustus and Glenn Johnson are lock's to get in.

The whole 'biggest name' kinda bothers me, if that references more well known. BEcause that's something that can be based upon Marketing and promoting. Case point, Canelo and JCCjr are bigger names then Paul Williams, and arguably Jermain Taylor. Probably both more known then Winky was as his peak as well.
