OK, I haven't started a Miranda thread in some time. But I am curious about this one... I am tired of hearing from many critics that Miranda has lost his two biggest fights, he couldn't even beat a guy with a broken jaw. He doesn't deserve to beat ranked high at 168lbs. what has he really done??? blah blah blah..... True, his two biggest fights are official loses. But now he has a chance to redeem his controversial loss to Abraham. If Miranda succeeds at doing this at the 166lbs catch weight, what does this do for you doubters? Does it erase the first loss to Abraham, at least to the above arguments that the doubters have. Does beating the undefeated IBF middleweight champ 6lbs north give Miranda a reason to be ranked high at 168lbs? What will people say about Miranda if he is a clear win over Abraham on June 21st?
Firstly, he won't If he did I don't think it will reflect on his standing at 168 at all, nobody at 168 fights like Abraham, they are mostly more technical boxer punchers. It would however bring him some credibility...
i for one will say "good win" if he beats abraham and they prbl go for a 3 fight to settle the score for good.......but what will u say if he gets beaten once more??:think
He is in most people's top 10 now. It is hard to find 10 guys to rank above him. He is top 5 in all the ABC's, for whatever that is worth. No doubt a win over Abraham gives him a title shot at 168lbs. All the ABC's will push for him since the money will be big. Where do you rank him now at 168lbs and where would you rank him after a win over Abraham?
He won't. To me, this is his biggest fight, as far as what a win or loss will do for his career. A win puts him into a huge fight against another top name, probably for a 168lbs belt. He possibly could start calling out Pavlik at the higher weight to revenge his only loss. A loss makes Miranda no more then an opponent. It will be hard for him to build back up to the top. And if he did, I would wonder if he could ever win a big one.
I agree. And that is my point. Bute is considered by far the #2 SMW under Kessler. If Abraham fought Bute next at 168lbs, I would probably favor Abraham. At the worst, Abraham would put up a great fight. So for that reason, why wouldn't a win over Abraham put Miranda on top of the 168lbs division with Kessler and Bute?
I don't understand all the hype about Bute - for me he's no.4 at SMW behind JC, Kessler and Mundine (though he fought no good opposition for a while)...after reviewing the whole situation at SMW (incl. the rankings), I would say that Miranda would replace Bute as no.4 at SMW. I may even place him at no.3 (Mundine is a big question mark because of his eye problems).
No 3 at SMW is crazy. Madness. You would be presuming Abraham is a top 3 SMW, which is clearly not the case. I don't think Abraham fairs that well at SMW, against bigger guys, when his main strength is his knockout power He'll drop a lot of decisions at SMW, with his sheer inactivity
Do you know if Abraham makes 160 easily? I always get the impression he is struggling to make weight, with the way he fights in spurts and seems to lack the stamina, or the confidence to really up his work-rate If that is the case he might be much better at 168 than I give him credit for
I don't doubt Miranda at all.. I think he's a well fighter, but I don't think he'll win in his rematch with Abraham.. I think it could be a cleaner and closer fight.. Really don't think weight is gonna' be a problem in this fight.. I believe this fight will be one of the biggest fights left besides Cotto/Margo..
I've been saying this for a while now. I hope his handlers know this too. I think boxing is coming to grips with MMA where the fighters openly acknowledge people want to see exciting fights?
Do you think Abraham will come to the Miranda fight with a 'Pavlik' type gameplan? For one, it worked for Pavik, and two, in America he isnt going to win rounds with his inactivity. I dont see him doing it. It just doesnt fit his style.
