2007 was a big mess with countless number of upsets. At first it was funny to see some big names lose, but then it got rediculous. If this trend is the norm from now on, I would definitely stop following the sport. I like to see a champion who can dominate for a long period of time. So far the only thing that is keeping me interested in MMA is Fedor. And the day he loses a step and starts losing, I will stop following the sport until another fedorlike talent emerges.
The upsets were brilliant. Thats what makes the sport great and so exciting. I hate having someone like Mayweather who is virtually unbeatable. If you're going to stop watching a sport because hyped up fighters get beat by guys they're not supposed to get beat by then I suggest you follow table tennis or syncronished swimming. This is one of the greatest years ever in MMA.
MMA is a very inconsistent sport, but I doubt I'm gonna stop following it anytime soon. I've been watching it well before I became interested in boxing.
If you were going to follow the sport mostly for one athlete, why would it be Fedor and not GSP? (which is more or less the case for me at this point) :?
I agree with the general point of your post, 2007 was for the most part, a ridiculous year. People will say that's what makes MMA exciting, the fact that anyone can win, well, that's what makes street scraps exciting as well, nobody's praising them. I do disagree though, that Fedor is the only thing interesting in MMA right now. He needs to take on some top notch comp fast. Anderson Silva is what has me tuned in to MMA.
but i'll keep on watching UFC until the day i stop getting invitines to watch don't really like mma wouldn't really pay to watch it
IMO, anyone who goes undefeated for a long streak in MMA is just not fighting the right guys. The only possible exception I can think of is Fedor.
:huh Hmmm...........lets recap the last 2 years of Fedor's career. Hong Can Choi - Freakshow, ******ed and slow, clumsy and cumbersome. Matt Lindland - Natural 185lb'er Mark Hunt - Kickboxer, very limited groundgame Old Man Coleman - Old, semi-crippled, shot to ****, well past his prime Zulu - Fat, useless, fat, slow, fat, ****, obese, worthless, crap, has zero of anything
I know, man. Fedor has some decent wins back in the day, though, and he's undefeated (cut loss was on an illegal blow). Most guys aren't undefeated after 20+ fights. I do wish he'd fight some real contenders soon, though.
Anyway I think it was an awesome year for MMA as well as boxing. The fact is the best fought the best for the most part.
