If MMA continues to be anything like 2007, I would stop following it.

Boxing wouldnt be nearly as consistent if the boxers promoters and HBO FORCED every champion to take on their toughest challenger every fight.

The fewer moves one has, the more athleticism comes into play. Technique is still important, but so is strength and speed. Top notch wrestlers are freakishly strong. That is because wrestling has limited moves; so when technique is equal, the strongest guy wins.

In boxing, if all things are equal in regards to speed, technique, chin, conditioning; the fighter with heavier hands wins.

MMA has more techniques than the aforementioned. This is why you can have so many older fighters able to compete. Fighters have so many techniques at their disposal, not all are limited to athleticism.

This higher number of techniques naturally gives more ways to win. Anyone who follows boxing knows that styles make fights. Certain styles are vulnerable to certain styles. When you throw in a limited number of moves, it's easier to have an absolute rise to the top.

MMA is different. There are more moves, and more ways to win. Certain style match-ups still exist, but the one with the stylistic disadvantage still has many more options for staying in the fight. Someone being out struck can be win by submission. Someone being out grappled can be knocked out. A more durable fighter may win in a real fight, but get outpointed due to time limits.

With so many variables it is hard to have a definitive champion. This is why you have so many upsets.

You sure have some high standards.
Choi is huge. There isnt ANY heavy in the UFC that would beat him right now limited MMA game or not. As for Hunt he nearly had Fedor subbed with a Kimura that sure is some limited groud game.I mean Hunt one of the best strikers and steel chinned kick boxers in the world isnt a good enough opponent? So who would you like to see him fight?:think

    Josh Barnett
    Randy Couture
    Sergei Kharitonov
    Antonio Silva

Those are just some of the non-UFC fighters that he could face (Randy in the future)
In the UFC theres: Sylvia, Arlovski, Gonzaga, Kongo, Vera

All better opponents than the ones I listed in the previous post. The fact that Hunt and his limited groundgame was so close to submitting Fedor, doesn't make Fedor look good.
But I suppose Hunt is his best opponent out of that list. But still the other opponents are jokes. Choi's size really is irrelevant, Choi is/was a complete bum.

Other than being big and having Acromegaly who has Silva fought? Does cabbage count?

Kharitonov got battered by Fedors brother lost to Big Nog and got TKO`d versus Overeem (although he did destroy him in the rematch but what was he playign at vs Aleksander?!?!) He has great credentials and a solid boxing background but his injury prone.

As for Randy his simply old.His had a magical come back and i too would love to see the fight but the gulf in class plus his age is a big leap. The only thing big about a fight between him and Fedor would be there namesakes.

As for the guys from the UFC you`ve mentioned puhlease.I mean seriously you`d rather see Fedor vs blown up light heavy Vera than against a man beast like Choi?

We can all type away and blow away Fedors opposition but the bottom line is he makes it look easy. His the best in the world.Id love to see vs guys like Josh but im sure those fights will eventually be made. You cant slate the man for facing a guy 1.5 times his weight and dealing with him in quick fashion.Like i said already theres no heavyweight in the UFC that would beat Choi.

Dude man how old are you?:patsch I thought all that emoticon BS was left to the general forum. So tell me which UFC heavies would best Choi? Matter of fact its not even worth the debate under UFC rules as they wouldnt allow Choi in there org as his too heavy.Even under PRIDE or Heros rules you best believe it Kongo Gonzaga whomever would get pulverised.

I try to cut down on the use of emoticons to 1 or 2 at a time but the post I quoted was so hilariously ludicrous that I had no choice but to go to extremes to show how absurd I thought it was.

Kongo would out-kickbox him. Gonzga would submit him. Randy would probably be forced to submit him. Big Nog would submit him. Crocop would destroy his legs. Sylvia would outbox him. Arlovski would outbox him and probably stop him. Werdum would submit him.

Choi is frankly, a joke opponent, a freakshow, everyone knew this coming into the bout, even diehard Fedor fans. Now after the pathetic spectacle, Choi isn't a bum, he's now a top 5 heavy in the world! He would beat everyone but Fedor!! Amazing!!

Hell, whats the point in Fedor fighting anyone at all! He beat Choi who would beat everyone else! Yay!!

Choi is an average K1 fighter and a nobody in MMA. He's a freakshow and a joke and the fact that he's now being turned into this unstoppable juggernaut that would beat every other MMA HW is ridiculous and absurd.

i agree that nobody could beat choi. there isn't any fighter out there except for Fedor that could beat choi. all of the heavyweights out there will be ducking choi cause they know they will tremble before him.
