Look Mark Ant, No more Hearns vs Monzon threads, Carlos Monzon could take a punch, Tommy could not take a punch. Monzon was 89-3-9, 61 KO's, champion from Nov 7 1970 until his retirement on August 29 1977, 14 successful title defenses. So Monzon never fought a fighter with a 78 inch reach, so what? Only clowns call out other fighters, this is boxing, not the WWE. To Monzon boxing was a business, he only fought who was put in front of him. Promoters promote, fighters fight. Did any middleweight champion ever retire as champion like Monzon did?
In the vast majority of his fights throughout his career, Muhammad Ali either held the height and/or reach and weight advantage. None of you general forum escapee's ever carp and complain about Ali's fight and subsequent one sided fight and win over Floyd Patterson.
“General forum escapees”. . Do warning alarms sound when that happens, you know, to give you time to lock all doors/windows, batten down the hatches, so to speak…? …
To be considered great by these guys, you have to be a loudmouth who sits at ringside, taunting or trying to intimidate his future opponents. You also have to speak English, fight here, never show your puss in another country, just in the U.S, then play the victim card when things do not go your way, brainwashing other posters to your cause. Then you have to lose your title to a smaller fighter that has not seen ring action in a few years, then you get to be a so called victim and whine the blues again, again. Oh please ! Where does this nonsense end, if I wanted to see people calling others out I could watch WWE Smackdown, they have victims too. I got your back Michael.
Carlos Monzon could possibly upset Robinson but I would favor Sugar Ray based on his quickness. Robinson isn't at a height disadvantage like Napoles or Griffith and Sugar's power was explosive at middleweight. All things considered it's a rough nite for Carlos but that's just on paper. Monzon was a master himself. You never know for sure how it unfolds.
