If Morales lasts the full 12 rounds what chance do you give him of winning?

I think he still loses a decision.

Maidana is good at applying pressure, and I think after the first few rounds Morales will be reluctant to exchange with Maidana (if he even lasts that long). It will basically be a case of Morales not doing enough to get the nod.

 

He needs to make sure he's effective early, so if he can weather any potential storm in the mid rounds when Maidana gets into his groove, starts applying more pressure, then maybe he could pinch a couple of latter rounds, then you never know, that said, I worry about his lack of movement.

One thing I will say though, is Morales tends to fight flat footed, and I think cause of how straight he throws his right hand, how he gets full range of motion into that punch with the way he brings it across his body, that he might be a bit more dangerous to Maidana, power wise, than maybe Khan was, although that might be clutching at straws.

 

Something we should not discount in this fight is, whilst people have said Morales can go to his body, we need to be mindful that Maidana is not a bad body puncher himself.

 

Maidana has a fair few stoppages by body shots I think.

 

Maidana will stop Morales, the question which round?, I'm not sure but i will say round 6.

 

That's what I mean, from what I've seen he's actually quite adept at slipping these hard shots in underneath.

 

I don;t know man, I'd be more worried about brain damage. With the bigger gloves Morales should be able to absorb more punishment than he would have with the smaller ones. I just can't see Morales being in a position to win this fight. If he does it will be shocking and epic to me

I see Morales going down, early and hard..

 

Look what happened down the stretch against Diaz, and even that was years back. Morales needs to build up an early lead, if he can go to body enough early he might take some of the steam from Maidana late on which is where Erik himself will be starting to feel the pace and will no doubt (in my mind tire). If Morales can make Maidana tire through body shots then while he will probably lose the later rounds, he may take some of Maidana's power away and be abloe to weather the storm of the round 8/9-12. Of course all of this is hypothetical, I don't really like his chances of making it past four.

I'd love it if he won though (as much as I like Maidana). I don't want Marquez getting his hands on that fourth title before Barrera or Morales.
