Personally Mark based on the 12-0 fighter I’ve seen I’ll have to repeat the statement issued by @robert ungurean we are talking about LARRY HOLMES he’s one of the 5 best heavyweight boxers to ever do it… right now even as a guy who is a victim to hype I’m not going to insult the Homer like that and say a novice tunes him up… A bunch of talented up and comers got the short straw with Big Jack - Witherspoon, Bey, Marvis, Bonecrusher, Snipes and Cooney etc plus the judges will make sure he keeps the converted forum belt if it does come to a Williams situation
Why do people insist on comparing fighters who haven’t beaten anyone of merit to those who have. The bar is so low for this generation. Three? Four or five ranked men and all of a sudden they can compete w Ali who beat 30. Let the kid have a career. He looks to be the future for now.
He would need to beat someone as good as Holmes. Maybe if he beat Usyk, we could have that discussion. Simply becoming undisputed doesn't mean you should be favored over an ATG, the context of how you won those belts matters. Crawford's path to undisputed at 140 is a perfect example, it was not exactly a murderer's row when he was down there. You wouldn't favor Crawford over Chavez at 140 based on those fights.
Holmes would feast on Moses. We need to see a lot more of Itauma before we can realistically match him up with someone of Holmes' standard. At this point, I'm far from convinced he could get past any lesser fighters like the Big Cat, McCall, Bugner, Lyle, Chuvalo, Quarry, Briggs, Tua, Folley, to name a few, let alone the mighty Larry. Moses is also fighting in a weak era which doesn't help. He has only had a dozen fights and is still young. It's fairer to start matching him up further into his career when he has matured a little.
