This is not a bad post actually , i read the title and thought ill bash this one a little but its a good read :good

I think this can work for Mosley if he stayes un predictable with it , if he uses it for periods and then lays off and gets behind his boxing , if he does that Floyd will have a lot to worry about , as if Shane is seen to be winning the rounds and neutralizing Mayweathers counter punching by the use of clinching or just simply closing the space and cutting the ring off Floyd may have to come looking for him , something Floyd is not too good at unless there is a punch bag in front of him ala Gatti , Mitchell etc !!!!!!!!

    Good post . :good

I'm probably in a minority but Margarito just didn't look right from the opening bell in the Mosley bout.

I really don't see how Mosley is going to deal with Floyd's movement, jab, right hand and lateral movement.

People look at Floyd and think it's just the shell but it's more than that. You have to put a lot of punches on Floyd in the hopes you'll get at least 2-3 through.

Now Zab was able to catch Floyd with single shots but they were counters and Zab has amazing handspeed. I don't think Mosley is as fast as Zab.

DLH was able to use the jab but his jab is much better than Mosley's who really likes to wing shots in exchanges. That favors his chances against Margarito but against Floyd no way.

DLH's jab may be better than Mosley's but Mosley has a very good jab himself he just doesn't use it as much. I think Shane needs to throw at least 20 jabs a round for his best shot at winning.

Not saying he couldn't. Just going on a basis of history, DLH has put his jab to greater use overall. Hard to imagine a 38 year old fighter switching up now.

Also, DLH committed most of his output to the jab which stalled Mayweather's offense but didn't really do much else but create a stalemate.

If Mosley plans on using the jab he's going to have to employ more than just the jab to pull out victory. One thing he cannot do is depend on the exchanges. Floyd will not be there for the most part. It's either proactive or bust.

Overall your right and you'd have to be dumb to say that Floyd is Margarito really dumb , however Zab Judah faster than Mosley are you for real dude !!!!!!! Mosley has the fastest hands in boxing homey period !!!!!! , Mosley can use flurrys against Floyds single shots and draw Floyd into a fight .

Fact is , if Shane uses flurry's he'll get 1 or 2 shots through on most exchanges , Mayweather has excellent defence but Shane has faster hands than anybody Floyd has ever fought , and if they are drawn into a fight Mosley has his way with Floyd all night .

The things is, people tend to forget that Mayweather is extremely versatile. People often categorize him as a counter puncher, but he can adapt to his opponent. Against Hatton, he was the one going forward and initiating the clinch, nullifying Hatton's clinching style.

Mosley at this stage clearly is not as fast as Floyd, Manny, or Zab! If you really want to see how much Shane speed has deteriorated go back and take a look at the fights with Oscar, Mayorga, Cotto and then Margarito in that order. He has gotten progressively slower each time out. It's amazing to see how much he has slowed down. He only appears to be fast because the last fight he fought against a sloth in terms of speed.

:deal Jab and combinations is what helped Oscar win some rounds on Floyd. That is before he ran out of gas as usual. He's also going to have to cut off the ring and swarm on Mayweather from time to time instead of walking him down in the center of the ring because that's when Floyd will be popping that jab out. Like Richardson said, Shane's got to take Floyd out his comfort zone. Work the body, jab the body. Floyd is a lateral fighter too so Shane's gotta work on Floyd overtime and make Floyd move around the ring more. Just gotta watchout for those double uppercuts Floyd throws. Mosley gotta keep those punches short.

This thread is full of ******edness.

    1) Floyd has a great jab. He hasn't used it much in recent years because he can often use his straight right for the same purpose, but he put it on display in the Marquez fight just to remind people that he's got one. If he needs to use it he can. It's fast and strong enough to get respect. Much better than Mosleys.

    2) People use Castillo or Hatton as examples of how to keep Floyd in place, but the fact is Floyd generally seemed to want to be where he was in those fights. He wasn't trying to get away. Against Castillo he was willing to stay in the pocket and mix it up. At the lower weights he enjoyed fighting that way. Against Hatton, particularly in the second half of the fight, he was generally winning the inside exchanges and roughing Hatton up. He knew he was the stronger guy and he showed it. Shane, at this stage, isn't fast enough to cut off the ring if Mayweather doesn't want it cut off. But he may very well choose to fight off of the ropes, as he often does.

    3) Oscar didn't stop using the Jab because he gassed. This ignores so many facts about the fight, like that they split the early rounds when Oscar was still fresh, or that the Jab was only sporadically effective, or that Floyd spent the second half of the fight launching right hand after right hand, keeping Oscar's hand pinned to his face. Mayweather has trouble with the jab because EVERY fighter has trouble with a good jab. It's the most important punch in boxing. Mayweather is no more susceptible to it than any other. And if you get lazy with it he will take it away.

Mosely has a solid chance in this fight, but if he relies on going in there with a single strategy it's not going to last him all fight. Mayweather will change it up, and give him different looks, and Mosely is going to have to be able to adapt to that, otherwise he will end up losing a decision.

Margarito is a tomato can, please don't compare how he's easily manipulated in the ring with a master boxer like Mayweather. Margarito is a tall fighter who fights short, Mosley just never gave him the distance he wanted and even beat him while giving him the distance a tall fighter seeks.

It'll more than likely be a miss, miss, miss, then get jabbed then clinch. He's gonna need to apply a good amount of pressure on Floyd to take him away from his game plan.

I don't think it will work. Shane will have a hard time beating Floyd. He punches hard enough, but people who think he is the second coming of Mugabi or Hearns are mistaken. Floyd can take his punch if Floyd uses his speed and doesn't get hit much. The key for Shane is to work the body if Floyd leans on the ropes. Shane trying to hit the head would not work too well, but if he can work the body well for a few rounds then Floyd's hands will lower and maybe he can start to hit Floyd to the head. Bodyshots are the key for Shane. In the middle of the ring is where Floyd will want this fight, but he will end up on the ropes like he always does. That is the key. Shane and his people should be watching tapes of all of Floyd's fights.

Mosley is faster than Zab. Mosley has the fastest handspeed in the division(exception pacquiao). His weakness is footwork not handspeed.

The fastest handspeed in the division belongs to Manny Pacquiao and I doubt any will disagree here.

What Mosley needs in this fight is stamina and aggression, if he stands there and waits like he did against Cotto then he will lose by UD.
