The only problem with this topic is the FACT of Mosely
taking steroids. If it weren't for that he would have to be considered above Hopkins.

I for one don't think of Hopkins career as that great.
    Tarver being his best win.

    Mosley is already above Hopkins.

I think anyone who thinks Mosley is already above Hopkins clearly doesn't like Hopkins, coming from a huge Mosley fan.

i think hopkins got mosley pretty far. bhop fought a lot of top fighters. The fights he lost were all close. Forrest hammered mosley the first and winky shut mosley out. beating up a over the hill vargas really didn't impress me much nor is over the hill mayroga.

Mosley's best win was DLH1 and we all know what was happening in SSM's camp for that one.

It's pretty close but Hop's run at MW should keep him ahead of Mosley, even if he beats PBF.

great thread. The other day I was thinking if Mosley beats Floyd, where does he rank? And my instinct was right above Hopkins, but not far off. It was a hard one.

Shane would be ahead, but by a slight margin IMO.

I don't even see Mosley as an all time great! He lost twice to two different fighters; Forrest & Wright!

The all time greats of the past would never lose to a fighter twice, they always found away to win the second time around and force a 3rd rubber band match!

Mosley hasn't beaten any big name fighters other than DLH.... Margaritto was always a C level fighter if you ask me!

Let's go over Mosley's big fights

De La Hoya 1 & 2 - He won the first fight and I believe he lost the 2nd
    Forrest 1 & 2 - He lost both decisively, I didn't think the 2nd fight was close
Vargas 1 & 2 - He won both by tko, but Vargas was a shot B level fighter
Mayorga??? - Hahahahaha, he's a joke! Any elite fighter can beat him!
Margaritto - B level fighter with no real skills, he just packs a punch!
    Cotto - Mosley lost

So he hasn't done much to be considered an all time great other than win a few titles!

All time greats like Hagler, Hearns, Leonard & Duran wouldn't have lost to Wright, and Forrest TWICE, or De La Hoya and I believe he did in fact lose the 2nd fight against
De La Hoya.... anyone who has a little punching power and can BOX can beat Mosley; he only does well against slow fighters who have poor head movement and footwork, and fighters who punch slow, move forward and have no defense like Vargas, Mayorga and Margaritto; all mexican latino fighters

  10. Mosley is a cheater. He doesn't rank anywhere, period.

No matter where you rank Mosley, you have to include the asterisk. However, without the roids, Hopkins still ranks higher.

I'd still have Hopkins ahead, but only by a whisker. Even though I think B-Hop has had the clearly better career, has a better resume, and was a superior fighter, a 38 year old Mosley taking Floyd's zero would be massive. Almost enough to close the gap... but not quite IMO.

Our opinions are identical, but for me that feat would be massive enough to squeak him by Bernard.

Oh, unless Bernard goes on some crazy legacy-boosting late run...like uh...Jones, Green, and a Tarver rematch...:think

(on a serious note - Dawson, Bute and the Super 6 winner would put Hopkins out of reach of Mosley even with Floyd's hymen in his teeth).
