Vargas was badly shot when he fought Mosley. He was not even close the same fighter he was in his prime.
The first win over DLH was very clear and Shane was the first man to really beat DLH, but I thought the second fight wasn't even close. I had 8-4 for DLH. Also, most thought DLH won.
The hurt-hand excuse is a BS, but Cotto's win over Mosley was pretty clear. IMO.

No, he will be remembered as a great fighter. But he won only ONE big fight. So no dice for ATG. He was dominate at lightweight though I did not like him.

He's definitely a great fighter, one of the best of his generation, but I reserve 'all time great' for the very, very best that our favourite sport has had, this wouldn't be Shane Mosely.

Mosely is a top 100, and a 'great' no doubt about it.

If we hand out 'ATG' so liberally, then where does Vernon Forrest rate? I rate Forrest as a 'top elite', but not yet a 'great' and it's doubtful Forrest can become an ATG unless he really shatters the LMW division for the next few years.

Of course he is...his accomplishments and skills are comparable to ANYONE you can mention.

I really cant think of a valid arguement against it. Honestly.

My fault..he won twice against one great-good fighter that everybody else beat as well. Vargas was shot to ****. ODH was his only equally matched fight. He fought some scrubs at lightweight, though he man handled them.

..Hes a product of circumstances, there was no one at lightweight. To his credit he did chase the big money fights against bigger guys and hes a tremendous ambassador for the sport.

His skills..no need to discuss. Im borderline on this, hes one of my all time favorites

You have to win majority of your BIG fights to be an ATG. Otherwise for the E for effort your regular great.
