    I can definitely see a rematch around that time and Joe would have improved by then. A lot, in this scenario, would hinge on how seriously Ali takes him, I think. At 29 Ali should still be at the peak of his powers if he hasn't started to slack in training.

    Eduardo Corletti was on a nice roll in 1966 and 67, going 6-0 both years and getting a win over George Chuvalo. He was in the top 5 in some ratings. His streak was snapped in mid-1968 by Al "Blue" Lewis and he never really contended again.

    I think the Patterson rematch was closest to happening, but potential sites kept backing out.

    It's interesting how many names were mentioned that Ali did fight in the early 1970's - Patterson rematch, Quarry, Bonavena, Mathis, Frazier of course.
