Will he get full credit? :think He is down on some sites as a 25/1 underdog. Virtually nobody gives him a chance in this match-up, and it has been slated as a walkover since it was announced (and this is an undefeated sitting world champion). Yes, he's getting up there in years. Yes, he's smaller (a lot smaller). Yes, Donaire is a beast in his prime and looking as beastly as ever at bantamweight. All these reasons that it's unthinkable for the little Argentine to spring the upset - should they not also be reasons to give him MASSIVE accolades if he does? IMO it would be an enormous win, and enough to put Narvaez on those precious p4p lists that so many of you keep (since Donaire himself is top 3-5 on the lion's share of them). Something tells me that even if El Huracan pulls it off, somehow people will deny him his due and some sort of excuses will be made. From his fans, we'll get: Donaire underestimated him, under-trained, had some bad egg salad, yadda yadda. From the general naysayers, we'll probably even get some nonsense about how Donaire wasn't that good and got "exposed". So here and now - give your word. If Donaire is such an overwhelming favorite here, you have to be prepared to acknowledge a victory for Narvaez as a legendary feat (probably enough with his reigns to guarantee the HOF) and the biggest upset in about two decades). :deal
25 to 1 thats nuts I posted this on a diff thread Reminds me of the story line leading up to Lacy vs Calzaghe A young puncher is taking the mantle in boxing and he is facing an obscure non American champion with many defenses but is little known except Donaire is way better than Lacy this is Navarez possible coming out party but this yr we have seen foreigner champs come to the US for fame and to get a draw in the US only to lose Sergey D goes to US to get stopped by Sergio Zbik goes to US to lose his title to Chavez Shimoda goes to US only to be KO'd by Ramos I will say i wonder if Donaire is underestimating and Navrez is probably hungrier remember it was Donaire who came outta nowhere to KO Darchynian maybe Navarez will do the same i dont know
It would be a huge win...very, very huge. But I actually can't see him doing unless there is a legitimate issue with Donaire...which I'm sure his fans would latch on to. Even with that, it would be a absolutely mammoth upset.
It would be a huge win and the most possible reason I can think of is Donaire having difficulties making weight. But I don't think it will happen. Donaire eats midgets for breakfast...
Sometimes you can't tell how deserving a fighter is of a win until you see the performance. He should get a good amount of credit any way you cut it, but if Donaire goes out there and looks as fast and sharp as he always does and still loses, that counts a lot more than if he gasses in the 2nd round or looks like he's in slow motion for no apparent reason.
I take it you think Bernard undid his chances at fighter of the year, recently, IB? This content is protected
