If Narvaez does beat Donaire...

    FOTY is about the whole "Y". Narvaez if he beats Donaire (no matter how - even if it's like you say, getting trounced for 11 rounds and landing something lucky that somehow scores him a knockout) would have one AMAZINGLY great win and three very good wins. If you assign them qualitative point values on a scale of 1-10, he'd have three 7's and an 11. 32 points altogether - and it's doubtful anyone else this year would have much more than 20.

    Nobody else would come close. Nobody else has that much quality on their 2011 notch-post. Very few have three very good wins, let alone the chance to add an amazingly great one to them.

    fair enough, he has had an excellent year so far, you don't see world level boxers fighting four times a year often these days so he has probably earned it.

    earned or not though, you can pretty much wager that if Marquez does a number on Pac and looks really good he'll get it anyway despite his only other fight being a 1st round KO over a c-level fighter

    You're probably right that he will (if he does beat Pac) but - as a big Marquez fan - that would be just wrong.

    Even putting the Pac win up there with a Donaire win and saying they cancel each other out, the run of Zaleta/Seda/Urina beats the living **** out of a single quick blowout of Ramos.

    It certainly is an interesting match up, though I would give Narvaez credit where it's due. For all we know, Donaire has had off nights (other than the loss at the start of his career), and he has still pulled though.

    I have Donaire in the #4 P4P spot just behind Martinez. Every match the guy seems to have more skill. The quick work on Montiel was unexpected on my part, but damn, he did it. He seems to have a sense of timing and distance around the level of Floyd, but his boxing style is more of a boxing/counterpuncher.

    I have never actually seen a Narvaez fight, though I think with a record like that he does deserve a shot. Does anyone feel that he is better than Montiel? Because then I can see this fight turning into a chess match (which I kind of enjoy intelligent boxing, if not boring).

    Well now that we can rule out Navaez who you got favorite IB. It must be wide open for a few:

    BHOP - although Dawson farce puts a big question mark on it
    Donaire
    Froch/Ward winner
    Martinez
    Salido?
    Morales?

    It doesn't matter as long as they make weights. Both Klitschko and Calderon doesn't make each other's weights even @ catchweight, so that's absurd comparing Klitschko beating Calderon to Donaire beating Narvaez. Besides, you wouldn't have thought about these size differences if both Donaire and Narvaez have fought @ 112/115 before. You forgot that both became champions at the same time in those divisions. They would have unified belts without any of these criticisms
