If,god forbid ,Dempsey had never laced up the gloves ,then who iyo fills the gap between 1919 to at least 1926 ?Who takes the belt from Willard ?Would Tunney have come along earlier perhaps?
Assuming Wills doesn't get a shot (at least for a while)? Dunno might get passed around like a Christmas Turkey.
Fulton or Miske would probably have been up next for Willard. Wills probably gets frozen out anyway. I can't see anybody except perhaps Wills, holding the title for too long, unless they remained inactive. Having a weak champion, might just have played to Wills advantage, because he might have become the only big money fight for them.
Fred Fulton had the huevos to give Sam Lanford a shot at himself. Fulton was 6'-4" and a SOUTHPAW. Maybe had the skills to outpoint Willard....then lose to Wills in a title defense.
As I see it to .Title would probably change hand's a few times till Tunney turn's up .Personally I'd hate thought of no Dempsey ,to big a part of history and one of the most interesting heavyweight s to grace the sport .
