It won't be a middleweight. I expect him to drag somebody like Provodnikov or Peterson up. Canelo and his team are absolutely shameless.

Nah, Oscar won't risk Lemiuex looking better against Canelo than he did against GGG. Maybe they can sell Khan II. Claim that Khan was winning until the KO or some such nonsense. Wouldn't put anything past Oscar:hi:

I think it plays like this.

Canelo/GBP will say "they tried so hard" to make the Golovkin fight but Golovkin won't budge on 160, rehydration clauses and wanted far more than the money they offer him (which will be peanuts). They will claim Golovkin won't compromise, even though he really shouldn't and doesn't need to.

So they will blame Golovkin and before it goes to purse bids and gets to real and to close they will drop the belt (Canelo has just said forget about belts, let's do this for glory) and say they can't be bothered with the politics of it.

They will claim Canelo is "bigger than the belt" and the biggest draw in boxing now Mayweather and Pacquiao have gone and he calls the shots, they will start all the "A-Side" rubbish again.

In the meantime Golovkin will mop up the WBC belt and Canelo will try and get either Lemieux or Stevens to kill themselves to get down to 155 so he can beat a weak drained version of either or worse case scenario he'll fight another blown up welterweight to look "fantastic" against.

And we'll get this back and forth between GBP/Canelo and Golvokin's team until every boxing fan is sick to death of it and hates the pair of them

If he can't get one of the big names instead (Floyd rematch/Pac/Cotto rematch) it will be a bad look for Canelo whoever his opponent is. Especially if it's at 160, because that would make the duck even more apparent.

He has to do what everyone that is a fan of boxing and isn't a cheerleader or a hater wants him to do. Defend his middleweight belt against his mandatory at full middleweight.

I'd be down for lemieux/canelo fight. I also wanna see a fight where canelo fights someone who tests his mobility. Someone like khan but with way better chin and power and a middleweight.

Lemieux would be a good first fight at 160 for Canelo to test the waters. Lemieux is taylored made for Canelo, but he's a MW with power and world level experience. Not bad.
