If not Mitchell, who should/ will Ricky Burns fight next?

    As you know, I'm bang on the Mitchell - Burns fight. Without getting in to the outcome, I think it would e a pretty big occasion for British boxing, England vs Scotland in what is a very stacked domestic division.

    But there seems to be a bit of negativity about the fight, particularly from the Scottish fans. They, perhaps rightly, say it is a step down for there champion.

    So, I have two questions.
    1) if Ricky doesn't fight Mitchell next, who SHOULD he fight?
    And 2) if Ricky doesn't fight Mitchell next, who WILL he fight?

    Obviously he should be looking at the bigger names in the division should a Mitchell fight not happen, but will Frank risk it? If the answer is no, we may end up having a gimme fight next. Would Mitchell not be better than a Ghanian who is ranked 13th or whatever by the WBO?

    First off he needs a rest, he's just went 12 Rounds.

    Basically, when he's had some time off he should look at multiple options, see what the landscape is at that time as far as offers or potential fights go and then see if he can make a deal which suits him.

    Meantime Mitchell should keep himself ticking over and out of trouble if he is serious about winning a round or two should they meet ;)

    I hope to god its not Barrera, but its a fight Fwank would make because he still believes these are the type of fights the fans want to see. :nut

    Nothing it just reeks of a Fwank match up, faded fighter with name value that he could market as a viable opponent for the casuals, all the while it pisses proper boxing fans off.

    Barrera praised Dubya as a promoter recently, and was obviously being helped along the tour by that promoter as Dean Powell sorted out the sparring between Barrera and Jeff. Would probably want another crack at a 'title'.

    Spurious I know, but just the kind of cynical matchup Frankie-Dubs would make.

    Could Barrera do 135?

    Hopefully someone would put a spanner in the works, whether it be the WBO (fat chance) or the board, obviously TV is no issue :hey

    He'd obviously slipped massively by the time he fought Khan, three years later..... Burns might not knock him out but it'd be ugly viewing.
