If not Povetkin, who should Wilder fight next?

Wilder needs a celebrity opponent. Problem is there aren't many celebs in the HW division. Briggs is honestly going to make more money and help build Wilder's brand, and while there is some early rounds risk Wilder should be a heavy favorite.

The pre fight would be epic. Sport center would likely even cover it for the entertainment value Briggs brings to the table.

Wilder's not really being promoted correctly. Just protected.

Btw. Those Takam rumors. Squash that. Haymon isn't doing that. Takam vs. Wilder is probably a 50 / 50 fight.

If Povetkin really wanted to fight Wilder, fight him in the US. Why the **** should the champ leave his backyard?

Because purse bids decide where a fight takes places if an agreement can't be met... If Wilder is so good why does it matter where he fights? He's fought in his backyard for his entire career, would be interesting to seem him in hostile territory for once. Doesn't he only have ONE fight outside of the states? Believe that was against A-Farce in England.

Guess it had a few fights in Mexico as well during the early part of his career.... Point still stands though, a true champ will fight wherever he's called to... Not just his home turf.

The point is if Povetkin really wanted the fight he wouldn't try dragging the champ out of his own country to defend his belt and risk getting robbed. I would completely understand Wilder dropping the belt if he was forced to go to Russia.
If Wilder is such a bum like all of you claim, Povetkin should take the belt from the champ in his backyard the proper way.

So Povetkin isn't a true champ then right? He's never defended his belt in another man's hometown.

If Takam had beaten Stiverne, Scott, or some of Wilder's other opponents there might be room for argument here.

Lets see Takam or Perez beat Stiverne, Scott, or Wilder before you shoot your mouth off.[/quote]
Oh yeah the Scott who was in an eliminator.
Please explain to us why Scott was even in an eliminator.
Based on the rankings of that time I believe Jennings was no.3, and Wilder no.2.
According to the reasonable way, (and there's no other reasonable way) to handle an eliminator the 2&3 guys fight to decide a number 1 contender.
I think Scott might have actually been ranked outside the WBC top 15!

That's why having people with power and money behind you matters so much.

Yeah the Wilder/Scott WBC eliminator was farcical.... Almost as much as the fight itself. Scott lost to Chisora, beats a bum and all of a sudden he's in a title eliminator with his friend Wilder

The US is clearly where the biggest fights happen in boxing. If Wilder was from Haiti, and Povetkin wanted to drag him to Russia for far more exposure, and money I'd understand it, but this is not the case. Povetkin also has a history of making other champs go to his backyard. The hypocrisy on this forum is just pathetic. If it was Povetkin that had the belt, and Wilder's backing won the purse bid, all the Wilder haters would be crying about how Wilder should be fighting in Russia even though the fight would be bigger in the US.

should be noted the Scott loss to Chisora was on a BS stoppage. HE was actually winning that fight up until then.
