As we all know Roach was the only trainer that took on Manny Pacquiao.

No other trainer wanted the Filipino fighter when he went to the USA.They all refused to train the youngster. But is there really better trainers that would have been better for a young Manny Pacquiao? Who?

Goosen maybe Robert Garcia that's the only trainers i can think of..

Well just pick someone who prioritises offence and they'd prob have been a good fit. Never really rated Roach the same way a lot of others do. Futch liked him though so what do I know.

Likely Nacho. Would have made him a lot more dimensional.

There’s a story that went around a while ago that Teddy Atlas tried to get Manny to hire him but Manny wasn’t interested.

Yeah I agree, in the style of Atlas all I have to to say is..

Manny is a Sand castle on a beach, the tide I see coming in and Manny can see the tide is coming in and he knows he can't stop it.

So Manny shows the heart of a warrior, a true warrior who is about to be killed by the enemy but accepts his fate and faces his deepest fear and darkest moment with courage and honour.

Your average joe will never know what it's like to be that sand castle on the beach, seeing that tide coming in and not being able to stop it.

Your average joe will never know how it feels to be a warrior who has had the greatest victories and devasting defeats.

But that's what we are, we are sand castles, we are fighters, we are professionals, WE ARE WARRIORS and it's the life we chose and the life that chose us.

Nacho would have kicked him out of the gym in 2 weeks and refuse to train him.

I am taking Robert Garcia on my post back. Because I reckon he too would
have kicked Pacquiao out of the gym.

Goosen and Emmanuel Steward would have been great.

It's no secret at the time and even now no top world trainers want to train Filo boxers. Discrimination is kinda of part of it.

Only ROACH saw no nationality or color and was just strictly boxing. Pacquiao fought to bring down that barrier. Many other Filo boxers got opportunity because of Emmanuel Dipidran Pacquiao.

Nacho yes, Grandpa Garcia no. How many times has a Grandpa Garcia trained fighter failed to make weight? Plus I’m not sure he could’ve handled the circus (hangers on) that come with Manny.

I agree no one wanted him, but I thought it was because he had losses on his record and by way of stoppage. He was seen as nothing special.
    Question:
Do you know who took to him first, Murad the promoter or Freddie the trainer?

I do remember Roach helped Pac part ties with Murad, accused him of stealing money, while Murad countered it was Freddie who wanted to be more than a trainer, he wanted a piece of Pac's worth.
In the end, we know he parted ways with Murad and took on Arum. I could search the net, but will see who here knows who hooked up with Pac first.
