If not Whyte and Usyk, then who?

    Just occurred to me.

    Fury recently said that he was not interested in the Whyte fight because it won't sell for big money. He has, in the past, said something similar about Usyk.

    It is a bit disappointing, because I think these would be two of the better fights that are out there, and beating Usyk, particularly, would be very good for his legacy. But Fury has made it clear that he is fighting for the money.

    So let's assume that he gets past Wilder III and Joshua I and II. What next?

    Who are the big, marketable fights? Ruiz? Joyce? Dubois?

    Since we are the fan base, in a sense there is no wrong answer. But I am wondering if Fury is not talking about making matches against guys from the past like Klitschko and Haye, because I don't personally see a lot of big mega-attractions out there.

    Definitely.. He would have dethroned all the long term champions of his eras.. Ended the Wlad era stopped Wilders WBC reign and finished Joshuas voyage towards becoming undisputed.. Usyk would have to do great things at HW to entice Fury to risk his 0 against him..

    He recently said that he was going to hang around until he was 40, and even more recently said he wants his new contract to be the biggest in history. On the other hand, he does always seem to go back to retiring.

    I think as long as the big money is there, he is interested.

    Why not answer the question, though?

    Usyk is definitionally not irrelevant, as he is the mandated WBO #1 contender. He WILL be in the title picture, so you are using the word "irrelevant" incorrectly. But why not try addressing the question of who Fury's perceived big-money fights might be.

    There are none.

    To elaborate on my last remark - I don't see how Usyk is relevant in this conversation because he has done nothing at heavyweight and is not a big draw meaning no one outside of hardcore boxing fans will care if it doesn't happen and I don't think fury will care enough about retaining the wbo to make up for the fact that it won't draw money

    I don't think Fury is going to beat Wilder in their rubber match, but I'll play along anyway.

    First, Fury doesn't fight for Matchroom.

    Some of you guys have been so focused on Hearn and Joshua over the last few years, you're going to need to refocus. Just because someone fights for Eddie Hearn doesn't mean they are getting any title fights with Fury.

    Fury is liable to win all the belts and then drop some of them himself. It's not like he has any loyalty to any of the orgs who stripped him previously.

    By 2022, (which is when this proposed Joshua series would be over) Fury could fight Daniel Dubois (Warren's guy) in the UK. He could fight Jarrell Miller (who signed with Arum and will have been rehabilitated by then) in the U.S. (those two smacktalkers could sell a fight). This seems to be the main reason Top Rank signed Miller. Fury could fight Agit Kabayel (also with Top Rank) in Germany.

    With Fury as champ, the Top Rank fighters have the inside track. Not Matchroom fighters.

    Thanks, but to re-iterate my point, he is the WBO mandatory so he is not irrelevant, because it will alter the title situation whether he gets a shot from Fury or fights for the vacant title.

    Thank you Dubblechin. A very gentlemanly post.

    Dubois, Miller and Kabeyel...would rather see Whyte and Usyk, but these are credible fights. I would quite like to see more of Kabeyel.

    As for the WIlder fight, we have done that to death. Let's just say the better man will win.

    The conversation is what big fights can fury get after Joshua. That is where Usyk is irrelevant. It's not a big fight at this point
