I think Foreman would have beaten out a 12-round decision or perhaps even stopped Tucker.
Tucker was nobody by then. And probably "older" than Foreman, in terms of how much he had kept hold of his body and reflexes.

I thought I mentioned that I already saw it back in 1993. That was enough

I still think the Foreman who struggled against Axel Schulz in 1995 on HBO was better than the shitty version of Tucker who was TKO'd by Bruce Seldon on PPV in the month of April........

ALSO! "Foreman-Schulz" is an underrated heavyweight title fight....... I dug that war to the max......... Foreman won on my card---115 to 114.... Or close to it...... FOREMAN!

foreman, UD. tucker didn't have the legs that he once did so foreman would probably wear him down eventually with heavy shots.

Spinks didn't fight in the tournament and his IBF mandatory was Tucker I believe, so he got stripped. Tucker and Douglas fought for the vacant title.

It was most likely mainly about money...Spinks got paid way more for fighting Cooney. And then eventually got 8 figures to fight Tyson.

George Foreman exploited his talent. Tony Tucker wasted his talent.. 'Nuff said...
    :deal
You all recall Tucker whining like a ***** after his loss to Seldon? "I can't lose like that." SHEEEIIIIITTT!

Why, what did you want him to do, dive to the floor off a phantom jab instead? ;)

I'd have complained if he didn't tantrum about the loss. If you don't want to win, time to retire.

My last word on Foreman - Tucker...I think George at the time just didn't want any big heavy bouncing punches off his head, even if he'd beat them. His market stock was astromonical and all he'd have to do is turn up, knock over a schlub in a couple round and pose for the cameras. Schulz was meant to be someone that would fold and provide a nice knockout for the highlight reels.

It's not so much a question of 'could' Foreman beat Tucker and similar at the time, more like he really didn't see the sense in even trying. He'd make big money regardless.

Foreman was paid a "RECORD" 10 million dollar purse for his 1995 regular HBO title fight defense (IBF only) against Axel Schulz........ Nobody has ever earned 10 million bucks for a single fight without the aide of PPV being invovlved except for George Foreman........

I believe that payday still holds water today in 2010.........

    NOTE:

SRL banked 7 million for his regular Showtime fight with Terry Norris in 1991....... That is also respectable...........

I'm not sure, but I think Mike Tyson saw 10 million for his bogus nationally televised fight with Buster Mathis in 1995 on KTTV channel 11.?.?

Thank you for all the responses, Everyone. Now I will chime in.

George Foreman had not beaten any Ring Magazine top 10 fighters prior to fighting Holyfield and Moorer..yet he received TWO title shots. The only top 10 fighter he fought, Tommy Morrison, won a wide unanimous decision. Foreman's not on trial here, but the comparison is a valid one to the topic at hand.

As was Foreman's long string of knockout victims during his coemback.

Foreman lost to Morrison right after his failed attempt vs Holyfield, and subsequently received another title shot vs Michael Moorer. What was up wit that? Again Seldon may have been losing to lesser fighters, but Foreman was too..and still got a 2nd title shot.

Kind of like the way Foreman got a title shot vs Moorer in 1994 despite many fighters being rated higher by Ring Magazine?

Tucker still went the distance with a dynamite puncher more dangerous a than 45 year old Foreman.

I have "Lewis-Tucker" from '93 on tape.......... That really was Tuck's last stand........ Tony Tucker got his 33 year old in top shape, but, it just wasn't enough to get past Lenny Lewis........ Tucker went downhill afterward, but his man 'Don King' kept Tucker alive by keeping him on the company payroll.........

J.C. Chavez took apart Terry Alli on the undercard.......

Dem were the good ol' nights of PPV..........

Trust me.. Foreman was well more deserving of having a rating than Tucker or Seldon was... I lived the times.... I know....

And incidentally, Neither Tucker nor Seldon were ranked by your favorite ring magazine.. So why all the fuss over a mere alphabet technicality?

I know. That's great. I also own nearly all the Ring Magazine articles from the 1990s(thanx to an order i got from a friend)...so I know what was going on at the time. Fact is, Foreman was not beating any top 10 contender to gain his title shots. How is that any different from seldon/tucker not deserving there's? At least seldon tucker was restricted to WBA title only, while foreman got two shots at the big dawg(Lineal Title). Which is a Ring Magazine title yet foreman beat zero top 10 fighters, and lost a wide decision to one?

Foreman was at least fighting Stewart Coetzer and Morrison.. Of those 3, he beat two of them and lost via decision to the other... That may not have warranted him getting a title shot at Moorer, but it sure as hell pisses all over Seldon getting beat by McCall, losing in one round to Bowe, getting out boxed by an old Tubbs and beating essentially nobody.. Tucker had a good run leading up to the Lewis fight with a 14 bout winning streak with wins over McCall and Norris, but he got dominated, then did nothing afterward.. Foreman was stilll worthy of being a top 6 or 7 guy, but the other two dudes, weren't even top 10 worthy... The WBA had those guys at #1 and #2... Foreman wasn't rated that high, and nobody claimed that he deserved to be... He was selected as the first title defense right after Moorer beat Holy.. Rarely do champions face a mandatory in their very first bout...

Foreman on his name alone deserved more than Tucker or Seldon in 1994 or '95...........

"Foreman-Schulz" is a GREAT heavyweight (IBF) title fight....... I love it.........

    Note:

Bruce Seldon had a great jab and great build in the mid-90s............. Too bad he pissed his career away with his dive against Tyson.......... He had talent..........
