If only Edwin Valero was alive, he'd be steamrolling these fighters at 135/140...

I don't think Valero was a left-handed Maidana, other than the fact he was crude (despite his apparently amazing adjustments in both the sparring session with Morales and the Antonio DeMarco fight ) but I do think that Maidana was superior.

Valero would not have been as competitive with a similar level of opposition as Maidana IMO.

I'd pick Maidana also.... but that first sentence is just ******ed. Valero was far more athletic, quick, and fluid than Maidana. Its really not even something thats debtable. Maidana is more raw power, and that too I dont think is detable.

Actually, I think Valero could have beaten Maidana if he stayed smart and boxed. But his pride would get in the way, and Chino's relentless style would force him into a tear up. We'll never know though... but I wouldnt totally have counted Valero out vs Maidana.

He would have had an edge in hand speed, but how the **** do we know his chin would have held up at the weight? Because DeMarco didn't hurt him with the clean licks he managed to get in?

We dont know **** about Bam Bam's chin yet either. We DO however know that Rios is easy to hit, and Valero hit a LIGHT YEAR harder than Anthony Peterson.

We ALSO know now from Mikey Garcia that Rios has been dropped before, by body shots.

Some people are overrating Valero on this thread(I.E. saying he woulda beaten Manny) while others are UNDERRATING him.

He would have given Rios a thrashing. I believe that in order to beat Valero it would take either 1. Great speed 2. An elite skill set 3. Devestating power.

Bam Bam has none of the 3. He's made for Valero to shine against.

Bradley could have given him a good scrap, and I would give the Pac of today the edge over Valero. But yes, he would beat everyone at 140 pretty much guaranteed except Pacquiao.

And Mosquera was a bad mother****er when Valero fought him.

Valero also beat up De La Hoya in a sparring match in the lead up to Pacquiao-De La Hoya.

You have 764 posts, and I bet if I looked at your history 763 would be about Humberto. He's a good fighter, but damn son... take a breath and get some perspective.

Soto at 135 = killer. Soto at 140 = kind of ordinary. He's had four straight unimpressive decision wins against pretty unimpressive opponents, after spending his entire career knocking people sideways. Not looking good for the future at 140 for Soto.

He was an exciting talent but he did not do anything to suggest he'd beat the top fighters at jww. A fight between him and Marquez (who I think is past his best) would have been really good though. I still would not have Valero as favourite in that. People seem to forget that the real tradgedy of his death was that since the guy had just killed his wife, he left his kids with no parents. I always think that when a celebraty kills themselves young, it's to go down as a ledgend. Valaro had been seeking a lot of attention before his death, by changing his name to the death in spanish etc. In boxing though it is harder to buy a legacy by acting crazy and killing yourself since it is not as subjective as music.
