    If Ortiz wins at age 40, he would be the third-oldest reigning heavyweight champion.

    Foreman and Vitali were older.

    * George won the IBF title at 45 ... was stripped of the IBF title at 46 ... lost lineal title to Briggs at the age of 48.
    * Vitali won the WBC belt at 37 ... vacated the WBC belt at the age of 41 (after making nine defenses).
