I still think Oscar still stops him. Couldve possibly floored Oscar in the process though.

Vargas was 22 when he fought trinidad. 25 when he fought oscar. I think he improved in between fights and Oscar still beat him.

Oscar's win over Vargas is by far the best in his career imo.

i dont think vargas was better, he was probably a little smarter but he didnt have the speed or ability to put punches in combination like he did pre tito.

i would say DLH would probably UD vargas when vargas wasnt softened up by tito. vargas would havea chance to win a decision as well.

i agree oscars win over vargas may have been his best. def one of the best fights i had seen up to that point

Vargas was fine when he fought Hoya. I would even say a bit better than with Tito as he was much more older and more professional, less willing to rely on brute force when he could rely on his boxing abilities. He should of fought like this against Tito imo rather than going toe to toe. Just wanted to dispell the myth of him being ruined. Next would like to say that beautiful punch Hoya landed is now a textbook classic. It would've hurt anyone. I pick Hoya as it was left hooks that were really Vargas' probem. If you are open and susceptible to that punch then you shouldn't be fighting Tito or Hoya.

I dont think Tito fought Vargas with the same mentality Oscar did. This was an emotional fight and they threw their hearts out. Oscar ended up getting the better of it and outclassed Vargas.

De La Hoya would likely win, but not by stoppage. The damage that Vargas took in the Trinidad fight makes the difference here. Fernando's punch tolerance dropped dramatically after the beating he took.

Vargas comes in less cautious like in the Tito fight and gets KTFO with a "rocket lefthook!" in the first round.

    Very possible scenerio.

Hell No! DLH beat a roided up version of Vargas. What do you think he'd do to an unjuiced Vargas???:deal
