Since each of these fighters has made it clear they want to solidify there careers before retiring, and retirement could be soon; who would be the best possible opponent to face. I know both of these fighters will definetely be interested in the outcome of Mayweather/Marquez and Mosley/Clottey. Pac: If Pac wins, I believe he should go after Mosley in early 2010. Mosley beating Clottey is the best thing that can happen to Pac IMO. Yes, I understand everybody wants Pac vs. Mayweather but I dont see them coming to an agreement for the money in this fight. Also, Pac would have a chance in becoming the True 147lb. champ if he fights Mosley @ 147. This would make him an all time pound for pound great in defeating the two best welters in the division who are champs. Mayweather would be a solid victory as well if they can make it happen. Cotto: If Cotto beats Pac, his resume would benefit the best in fighting Mayweather. If Mayweather can get past Marquez, this would be the mega-fight Floyd would be interested in. Cotto would have a little more space at the bargain table, but I have a feeling not as much as Pac. It would still be a tough fight to make with the Bobfather, but if so, this is Cotto's best oppurtunity. He has already beaten Mosley, Clottey, and a win against a great fighter in Marquez would not prove as much. Cotto is MUCH MUCH bigger than Marquez. How do these two warriors finish there careers following a victory? Which fight outcomes are to their benefit?
If Pacquiao wins, he should fight the winner of JMM-Mayweather. I would say Shane Mosley is too dangerous, but if he beats Cotto, that excuse will be moot. JMM, because we all know they have unfinished business, and Floyd because he is at least the 2nd most popular fighter in the sport. If Cotto wins, he won't as much credit than if Pacquiao wins, trust me. People will say he beat a smaller guy. Excuses will be made - just like excuses were made when Manny beat De La Hoya and Hatton. One was weight drained and past his prime, the other fought like a caveman...you know how excuses go. But in any case, if Cotto wins, he should fight...oh, who cares? Pacquiao winning would be much, much, MUCH better for boxing than Cotto winning, because Manny is the bigger name, and could draw bigger fights in the future. Here's too Pac...
