The fact is, they aren't all Welterweights. I have to consider this and ask myself, considering both ability and size, who would be the much harder opponent. Cotto is a much tougher challenge than Barrera, Marquez, or Morales. We can agree to disagree, but I think you have to factor in the size differences.
Utter bull****. Hatton dominated a **** division. Its hot now that Hatton has been dismantled and all the up-coming prospects are fighting better comp, but otherwise if you seriously look at who Hatton has faced. It was utter dog****. His best win was Kosta and that was a long ass time ago. Its no fault to Hatton though. He fought all there was (except for Cotto when he was at 140) besides REAL contenders. Honestly, Urango was SUPER green and NOT under the training of Evangelista. Castillo was shot to living ****. Maussa...really?lol: Malignaggi who hasnt fought the same ever since Cotto rearranged his face? No. Hatton was a great win. But Cotto will be his best win by far. Not the best fighter he faced...I'll admit that. But definitely his best win. If he decisions Cotto in a close fight. I think Barrera 1 would be his best still. If he KO's Cotto or wins a lob-sided decision then yes...best win by far.
Not necessarily. He has had some very good wins. People consider Cotto a dangerous fight because of his 'size advantage' but I think that's being exaggerated. PAC's last two fights have shown added strength. He said himself that he felt like the 'stronger' fighter against Hatton and think he was right. If Hatton could not intimidate him (far from it, ha!), then the size difference against Cotto will be negligable. His 'little guy' tag at this weight should be dispelled by now. It will still be a great win but his resume is pretty rich.
historic win will give him his 7th world title in 7th divisions or weight class... flyweight superbantamweight featherweight superfeatherweight lightweight lightwelterweight and soon welterweight...
Know the difference between a guy who was Pac's size in Hatton and Cotto who doesnt balloon up in weight in between fights. Cotto has pushed around bigger fighters and has fought bigger men. **** even DLH wasnt "bigger" than him. Cotto WILL BE the stronger man...to think otherwise would be a foolish foolish miscalculation.
Personally manny's two best wins IMO was the first barrera fight, and the 2nd morales fight....only because that morales fight made him a star
Yes, it definitely would be his best win. Starting his career at 106lbs and moving all the way up to WW (catchweight or not) and defeating the #1 or #2 WW in the world, who defeated an ATG in Mosley and has built/building a nice resume for himself, could very well be Pacquaio's best win. Not to mention Cotto is in his prime
dont worry your little ******* heads....cuzz it wont happen but uhh, yeah, i'd say it is, seeing as he's an elite bigger man
Yes, Cotto is a better fighter than Hatton. Always has been. I can't agree that it was a "great performance" against Clottey. Miguel lost the toe-to-toe exchanges so settled for pitter-patters on the backfoot, trying to run the clock down and escape with a decision. Clottey is a spectacularly limited boxer with a very, very weak skillset. An elite boxer, in fact even just a well-rounded boxer, would have boxed his head off. His only real strength is his physical stature, and that really shouldn't be so hard to overcome. Clottey would struggle to win a round against Pacquiao or Mayweather - those with serious skillsets. If Cotto fights him again minus the cut, he must beat him convincingly or else be relegated to Clottey-like status himself. I found Miguel's performance alarming, as I was under the impression the Margarito showing was a one-off, but the weaknesses were all there again. Thankfully Clottey lacked the desire, the will, the punch variety/output, the aggression and the power of Margarito. It would be an even better win than the stunning win over Hatton.
I don't think Miguel got on his bike because he was coming out second best in the toe to toe exchanges. I don't know about you, but I had Cotto ahead on the scorecards prior to when the cut happened, very early on in the fight. A lot of knowledgeable posters almost turned a blind eye to the effect the cut had in the fight, but Cotto effectively was fighting half blind for the majority of a world title fight against a very good fighter in Joshua Clottey. Cotto could not see Clottey's right hand, but he avoided getting stopped, and actually pulled out the last 2-3 rounds on my scorecard. Perhaps it wasn't a "great performance", but it was an effectiveperformance from a fighter who was half blind.
Another great win but not the best, his wins over Barrera, Morales, DLH and Marquez remain bigger/better. It rates right next to Hatton.
