If Pac beats Marg, does his weight-jumping top Hearns, Duran, RJJ and Oscar?

    Pac already tops those guys.

You gotta go back to Armstrong to find someone better than Pac at weight jumping.

:patsch Erm, yes he did have the extra weight classes, so perhaps you should know your history before exposing your own lack of knowledge.

Duran purposefully skipped over lww in the late 70s in order to fight in the more lucrative welterweight division, and he later benefited from winning the light-middleweight title.

I'm more impressed by fighters dominating under 147 where competition is always insanely tough.

Both questions can be answered by simply reading the first line of the opening post:

    Modern era weight-jumping anyone?

I was looking purely at fighters who had the benefit of the additional modern divisions.

And FYI, putting Armstrong in this poll would be disrespectful. Of course his weight-jumping credentials trounce those of the modern guys.

Not on par. Pac hasn't won world titles in 8 weight classes. And what has either Margarito or Pac done to earn a shot at a 154 belt?

Pacquiao would not be the greatest because:

Catchweights (fake, hollow victories, especially when you have 17 divisions to choose from)

You realize many champs gain immediate title shots in the division directly above them.

Even without the catchweights. 112 to 140. And he defended his WW title at the full WW limit.

so that's 112 to 147, which is from Flyweight to WW

Flyweight, Jr. Bantam, Bantam, Jr Feather, Feather, Jr Light, Light, Jr Welter, Welter.

That's a 9 division span over which he's won title fights.

Even without catchweights, Pac has lineal titles in 4 divisions, something noone else has ever been able to do. That's even if you erase all his catchweight fights.

If some of you cry babies have such a huge problem with the whole "7-8 division Champ" ****, get over it and look at what's the most important part...WHO he beat. I mean, for ****'s sake, we all know betls these days don't have the meaning they once did. So focus on the fighters...not the betls.

Henry Armstrong has titles in 3 of the original 8 weight divisions.

Manny Pacquiao already has titles in 4 of the original 8 weight divisions.

Pac could make it 5  if he gets by Margarito and chooses to challenge for the middleweight belt.

Nutrition and training were different. It's all about context. Armstrong didn't have a nutrition expert getting him exactly right on the weight and the supplements available to do it. He did it raw.

That is, fairly or not, not going to replicated.
