If Pac fought Sergio at a 157 catchweight, would you be okay with it?

I'm probably the only person on here who thinsk Pac KO's a 156lbs Martinez while coming in at 147lbs  but the fight wont happen because Roach and Arum would want catchweight to probably be 150lbs or less, which I don't think Martinez could make without killing himself.

    No.

Both wouldn't be within the Middleweight range, so what's the point? There would be no need for weight classes then. Have the fight at a catchweight all you want...but no need for the title being on the line.

As long as it isn't for the Middleweight title I'd be happy to see Pacquiao fight Martinez.

I think Martinez is too big for Pacquiao considering Pacquiao won't have a huge advantage in speed. I'm not sure they would be able to find a 'fair' weight to fight at. Somewhere around the Junior Middleweight limit I would have thought.

My mistake, Martinez would be within the range...but Pacquiao would not. You should not be able to win a title at a catchweight, especially when you would not be willing/able to defend said title at Middleweight.

I guess if Pacquiao beat Wlad at a 160lb catchweight, you would class him as the Heavyweight champion?

Pac should not have to do this. Let's be honest these guys that he has beaten lately are welterweights. No matter what weight he fought them at, he has done a great job cementing the fact that he can beat welterweights even if one of them (margo) weighs over the welter limit. That is not a real jr middle belt, and to fight the REAL middleweight champion at his best is absurd. It's absurd to ask a weight drained welter to do, and its absurd to ask it of a guy who has filled out as much as he can and would be fighting well above his natural size to make the fight. NO NO NO NO NO. It is not fair to Pac, it is not fair to Sergio, it is not fair to anyone. I think Pac has a 20% chance to beat him, I can't ever ever rule him out, it just is not fair.

and to be frank I thought De La Hoya was crazy to take on Hopkins, too. And that is no where near the difference in "natural" starting physique that those two would have.

Pac came in 2 lbs. underweight on FIGHT NIGHT in a 150 lb match. Pac has no business fighting above 147 and he is already a small WW in the first place.

No-one could criticize Pac for this, as Paul Williams has fought at middleweight before and he insisted on a 158 catchweight, and no-one said a word about it.

However, I'm not sure I'd fancy this fight for Pac. A fast guy like Martinez being 168lbs in the ring is a nightmare for ANYONE from 154 downwards.
