It's pretty obvious why. Roach wants a slight advantage for his guy. He knows Cotto will be weaker at the catch weight (especially in the later rounds). I don't know if Pac needs the advantage or not but I don't blame his trainer for asking for it. Using the DLH fight as an example doesn't hold much water though because Roach knew first-hand that Oscar was mostly shot anyway and would already be weight drained at 147.

Team Pac is basically just saying "We are the top dog and you have to go with our terms if you want this fight". Cotto would be deemed stupid if he doesn't take the offer.

I say Team Pac are playing their cards well. They need that leverage for they know that Cotto would be alot bigger come fight night.

actually it's not even a leverage to call, it's making the playing field as even as possible eventhough cotto will outweigh manny more than 10 lbs come fight night..

145 lbs catchweight will barely affect cotto's performance IMO, but if you're on pac's team, you'll do everything just to ask for any possible demand that could benefit your fighter even if it's very little isn't it..

I won't make any, but if Pac beats Cotto at 145, expect excuses.

Pac and De La Hoya fought at 147 because Pac was coming from 135 (12 pounds to bloat) and De La Hoya was coming from 154 (7 pounds to lose)

They met in the middle. There was no way Manny was going to be able to pile on 20 F*CKING Pounds to meet De La Hoya at 154.

How is that so hard to understand?

This Pac bashing bulls*hit is getting ridiculous.

Cotto was 146 in his last fight So losing 1 pound is going to leave him as a weight drained zombie?

They're just trying to level the playing field. Manny best weight is 140. Manny is gaining 5 pounds. Cotto losing 1.

Oh I'm not saying you will. But a lot of Pac haters or Cotto fans will want that fight at 145, but if Cotto gets starched, I guarantee there will be excuses.

pac did not weigh 147 against odlh. he was at 142. dont yall remember that? he agreed to 147 because he knew that was the lowest weight odlh could reach and cotto is no de la hoya. it's really simple. roach wanted 143. cotto said he could only do 145. pac agreed to 145. so basically it was cotto's terms. dont yall see that? would cotto agree to 145 if he knew he was going to be drained? that man aint stupid.

Advantage? What the f*ck are you on about??? Manny is gaining 5 pounds. His best weight by far is 140. If Manny wanted the advantage he'd have the fight at 140. They are meeting ABOVE THE F*CKING MIDDLE. FAIR WOULD BE meeting in the middle of both their best weights - 144.5.

pac demanded cotto to go down to 143 lbs but cotto countered it with 145 lbs and both parties agreed, so basically it's cotto's term right?.

so whatever the excuses will be, it really doesn't matter coz' both parties had an agreement on what weight the fight would take place already..

excuses void nuff said, but i know what you mean and am not disagreeing with you..

Actually their terms would be fighting at 140. They're making a big compromise at 145.

I think what you mean actually is 143.5 ...

    140 + 3.5 = 143.5

    147 - 3.5 = 143.5

    .

    Thanks for the correction...
But this just further proves my point. 143.5 is 1.5 pounds lighter than 145. Cotto gets the advantage by 1.5 pounds.

This is on Cotto's terms. They should have the fight at 140, 147 or smack bang in the middle of their best weights at 143.5.

They should have the fight at 147 but limit how much Cotto can bloat.

The problem is Cotto can come into the fight at 160 and Pac will be 147/8
