The fight is not going to happen, and it doesnt really matter at this point anyway.

Not sure why people keep talking about it. Honestly, it would be rather anticlimactic at this point if it did happen.

Heres to hoping Algieri retires Manny and Floyd both. That would be a grand day for boxing.

If Pac loses then yes, the fight is dead to me. Pointless. Pacquiao just lost to a guy with 20 fights, featherfisted, kickboxer, who 2 fights ago, was in a 8 round fight. Pac is passed his prime though so he gets a pass.

    butthurt *****.

    his boy flopped his ppv.

arum found a way to leveraged pac's pull with the asian high rollers and is able to secure a purse from venetian and not depending too much from u.s. ppv.

flopjr will have no way to go but continue to depend on the u.s. public, who is rapidly losing interest, to buy his fights.

it's so bad 1 ***** openly admitted flopjr will be juiced to the gills in 2015 just to hype his fight.

must suck to be *****s these days.

Definitely still gets made. Just depends how Pacman looks when he loses, could be a controversial win or loss. And Algeri may prove to be the real deal. Some mediocre fighters become great fighters on certain nights. Pacman whether you like him or not always comes to fight, even when he's boxing a tactical fight, he'll more than welcome a toe to toe battle. Pacman and Mayweather are the 2 faces of boxing anytime they finally decide to make the megafight it's going to sell. They're the 2 most popular fighters in the world.

For Algeri to win - he has to really step up. And that's out punch and outwork PAC every round. And PAC must underestate him big time.

Why would they be on suicide watch? It literally has nothing to do with them. Only the people bragging and boasting about his PPVs look bad.

Oh and btw, 400k ppvs for $20 million. That's almost 50% less PPVs for 30% less purse than the numbers you listed.

    Where'd 700k come from?

Look, let's break this down. Pac-Brad II did 800k tops at $65. Lowest gate in Pac's history. Total purse was $26m I believe. Here's a simplified version for you.

    ***ALL ESTIMATED***

    Pacquiao-Bradley 2
    800k PPVs
    $65 PPV
    $26m total purse
    Total revenue = $26m

    Mayweather-Maidana 1
    900k PPVs
    $75 PPV
    $33.5m total purse
    Total revenue = $34m

    Mayweather-Maidana 2
    925k PPVs (rumored)
    $75 PPV
    $35.5m total purse
    Total revenue = $33-34m

    :hi:

I don't know what %'s get cut to who, but based on PPVs and total purses, Floyd's fights have generated $10 million more. This is simplified and not 100%, obviously.

Well, I thought he pretty much killed it in terms of mainstream appeal when he consecutively over the one year span:

-won a robbery over Marquez III
-lost a robbery to Bradley I
    -lost KTFO6 to Marquez IV

...but apparently he didn't so maybe losing to Algieri will result in sympathetic claims that Algieri was roiding, similar to how Marquez was treated after beating Pac. Odd, too, given the very vocal stance on PED testing and "innocent until tested positive" that Team Pac and his fans have taken over the years.

Obviously, losing to 20-0 JWW titlist Chris Algieri would be highly damaging to a contemporary P4P ranked fighter regardless of who it is.

I agree that I don't see him losing to Algieri but if he does lose then people won't see him as a legitimate star anymore. If he can't beat Algieri then he definitely can't beat Mayweather so people will stop paying for his fights.

Probably a better way but I don't know it.
