if Pac loses to Hatton, I'll be the first to admit i overrated Pac

By this logic, any favourite who loses a fight is overrated. I call that logic bogus.

Pavlik was favourite to beat Hopkins (a far stronger favourite than Pac is to beat Hatton). Pavlik was dismantled, but I don't think that means he was an overrated fighter, he simply met a fighter who turned in a sublime and totally unexpected performance. Pavlik went back to a weight he was more comfortable at, and showed he is still the same fighter as he was against Rubio. His opponent (Hopkins) showed he had been underrated rather than the other way around.

This debate could degenerate into semantics, I do see your point, but I disagree. Losing a fight when you are a slight favourite but are facing clear disadvantages does not automatically mean you have been overrated. JMHO :good

No offence, but I don't believe anyone who has a strong opinion that Calzaghe would comprehensively defeat Carlos Monzon is an eminent boxing analyst. He is a very good poster in other ways though, that I have noticed.

I'm not really into prediction leagues amigo, that's not a facet of boxing that interests me greatly. But I'll stick with my prediction from earlier this week, I believe Froch will beat Taylor! And if that's wrong, I'll happily hit your prediction thread and eat a hot tasty bowl of crow!! :good

Fine, you don't like predicting, but do you have anything against analysing fights that are actually made, instead of only fights that could never happen/ hypothetical fights from the past? Or are you afraid of being proven wrong time and time again, in your analysis?

Why don't you analyse big fights coming up, if you're a boxing fan. I never see you analysing big fights, thoroughly. That's why in my book, you're not much of an analyst, for all your historical knowledge...

Prove me wrong, if you disagree...prove to me you really understand boxing, rather than just know a lot of things about boxing. Start writing analyses for big fights in the analysis threads. Don't have to predict if you hate predicting. It's not about predicting. It's about analysing!:deal

...but, it's important to see the woods for the trees too...some people are very good at analysing all sorts of aspects of fighters' games, but they're not good at seeing how those games would come together...they're not good at analysing the fight! That's where the prediction league comes in...:deal

Again no offence mate, but I don't really have any interest in proving anything to you or improving your opinion of me as an analyst. There are many different types of boxing fan, and these days I am one of those who are more interested in 70s and 80s fighters, and in learning more about the history of the sport. You it seems are a different type of fan, one who is more interested in the big fights happening now, in analysing and predicting. Now I don't have any interest in persuading you to change the type of fan you are, so I am a little puzzled as to why you are so keen to change the type of fan I am. I'm happy doing what I do, same as you are happy doing what you do. I enjoy getting heavily involved in discussions about the relative merits of Duran or Azumah Nelson or Ezzard Charles more than I enjoy going into exhaustive detail on who I think will win between Kendall Holt and Timothy Bradley. It's a question of sensibility mate. All types of fan are perfectly valid. And to be honest, I have written pretty extensively on who I think will win upcoming fights such as Pac-Hatton and Williams-Wright, just not on the actual prediction threads. :good

In the General Forum? In posts that had words like "Pac"v. "Hatton"/"Williams v. Wright" in the title? in that case, I'll have a better look in future.

Any time you are after my opinion, just ask. I think Pac will stop Ricky in round 11 or 12, I think Wright will cause an upset and take a close but clear points win over Williams. Any other fights you'd like my tip on while we're here amigo?

I don't think that there would be any reason to admit overrating Pac. Pac has done plenty to earn his stature. It would just prove that Hatton is that great, that he could beat Pac. I can see admitting to underrating Hatton, but losing to Hatton doesn't change what Pac has already done.

    Sure...Bradley v. Holt, Lopez v. Penalosa, Wlad v. Haye...whenever you have time of course.:good

(It'd be great if you gave your reasons too, not just a prediction, whenever you have some time)

I don't really have time to go in proper depth just now mate, but I'll certainly get back to you when I do. In short, I think Bradley will comfortably outpoint Holt, Lopez will knock out Penalosa, and... despite being well behind on points at the time, David Haye will stop Wladimir Klitschko around round 8! Speak soon amigo :good
