the question, can floyd do with single shots what marquez can do with combinations? floyd has better speed, timing and reflexes then marquez. but he isn't as good a combo puncher. marquez didn't just time pac, he backed him up with combos and over the 24 rounds they contested I gave 13 to jmm and 11 to pac. if marquez again proves difficult stylistically for pac i'm not sure how much it says about floyd's chances. it's more about how he proves difficult. if he edges/looks competitive in a close war with lots of combos it doesn't really say anything. if marquez picks his shots and counters the hell out of pac never letting him get going then yeah i'd say floyd being a bigger, superior counter puncher to jmm, that has to be considered. if, as i expect, pac proves too strong for marquez and stops him then all it means is he's winning the latest round of common opponent matches with floyd.
According to Arum, there are no more issues with drug testing. In that case, Mayweather would have no need to comprimise. And let's not forget that he comprimised 2 years ago and offered a 14 day cutoff which was promptly rejected.
Why would he compromise? If he thinks Pac is juicing, and he struggles against JMM, wouldnt it stand to reason that Pac might up his juice levels against Floyd? Floyd would really have all the leverage. He'll do a 50/50 split, but no cutoff. His team is not that stupid.
I just want to let you know why Pac struggled against Marquez in the first place. it seem like you need to know something a little bit more than just think that Pac struggled against Marquez.
There is always a "reason" why Pac has struggled with an opponent. Whether it's weight, bad socks, blood tests, or the wrong gloves, there is always a "reason". Other fighters cant have "reasons." But Pac? Hell, if it wasnt for his "reasons" he would be undefeated and completely unbeatable. :-(
Floyd can throw combos but you gotta look at it like this. Floyd wont throw combos unless he knows he wont get an exchange back. Marquez was willing to trade with him because Mexicans do not have a coy boxing style to them. Pac will walk through Marquez easily.
Different fighters, different fights. Marquez and Mayweather set up their counters completely differently.
