Top10? He would have this contenders and champions in his record: Sasakul Chockrivat Ledwaba Jorge Eliecer Julio Nedal Hussein Barrera Barrera Morales Morales Marquez Larios Solis Diaz De la Hoya Hatton Mayweather
Just inside top 10 id say. The Mayweather fight puts him there as hes undefeated and was top of most p4p rankings for quite a while. A win over Hatton puts him at around 20 IMO
if he beat mayweather (which he wouldnt i dont think) then he'd be very very high, he should fight marg and cotto and jmm after hatton and mayweather then he's top 3 atg for jus fightin them
Top 30 definitely, arguably top 20. Personally, I would have him top 20 slightly above Roy Jones and on the same sort of level as Pernell Whitaker.
if pacman beats floyd thats what will define his all time ranking. a wn against hatton will certainly lend weight to it but floyd is the golden goose here.
I'm sure he'd still be behind Mayweather according to some, because he would've beaten a "shot" Mayweather who had come out of retirement, not Mayweather in his prime. It's the same type of hater logic that's applied towards Calzaghe.
You dont think a former FlyWeight champ beating a p4p #1 WW and JMW champ, undefeated and one of the best fighters of the decade is enough to elevate him to top 10? I saw your list and you had Monzon in the top 10, with Pac's wins over MAB,JMM,Morales,DLH,Hatton & PBF as well as 6 titles in 6 weight divisions(possibly 7?) accross 10 weight divisions, what reasons would you have for still ranking Monzon over Pac?
Pac would certainly have a case for top 10, there is so little to choose from between the guys at that level that saying someone is top 15 is not saying he is a clear tier below someone in the top 10, not at all. If you check back to my top 50, you will see I put the fighters in tiers too, and if Pac beats Hatton and Mayweather then I think he has a definite case to be in the same tier as Monzon, I'd really have to sit down and give it more thought though, you can't just slot him in on a whim and produce a number ranking off the cuff right now on a hypothetical. Monzon is the greatest middleweight champion ever since Greb, the greatest televised middleweight (I think he would've beaten the 160 version of SRR), he went on an 81-fight unbeaten streak that stretched across his entire prime, he has a strong resume IMO, I just think the guy was as peerless and dominant a champion as it gets. Pac would be right up there in that company though. In addition to beating Hatton and PBF, if he can also pick up a welterweight belt by beating a good welter and retires on titles in 7 weight divisions, then yes, I think he should be top 10 and above Monzon.
Fighters of the past gain more mythical status as time goes on. we don't look at our generation of fighter's the same because like they say "you don't know what you got till it's gone". Very Very interesting to hear Lampley and Merchant talking about comparisons to Henry Armstrong with regard to Pacman. Remember Armstrong would be in a lot of people's TOP 5 ALL TIME. imo Pacquiao is Very special, and we could be witnessing one of the Greatest boxer's ever.
The woman in your avatar is beautiful. Pac is now top 100 of all time. He would make a serious move on the top 25 if he were to beat Hatton and then Mayweather. Top 50 if he beats Hatton and loses to Mayweather.
I think no one should call Mayweather shot if the fight takes place in 2009 and after a tune-up for Mayweather. After all, he's only 32 and has not been in any war. I'd rank Pac top ten if he can beat Margarito and Maywether, but don't see that happening.
