by a wide UD, than beat Shane or Marquez afterwards, which fighter would be thought to have had the greater career between the two of them? Assuming Floyd retires.
If he beats Pac and Mosley, then definately Floyd. How can Pac better if he loses to Floyd and Floyd retires undefeated? Let's also not forget that if he beats Pac and Mosely, he will have won every major title as well as the Ring belt and the IBO belt at WW. He would also be a two time linear WW champ with wins over 5 current or former WW champs. He would have done so against 3 HOFers, and all without losing. It's a no brainer to me.
Id say Floyd.. He beat Hatton when Hatton was a confident, undefeated fighter, beat a decent Oscar, Toyed with Marquez and then Hypothetically takes down a prime Pac, Id have to give Floyd the nod. ill admit to bias though, but its just my opinion. Pac will be Mayweathers biggest challenge, I just finished re-watching the Judah fight and Its easy to see Pac really troubling Mayweather.
so floyd gets no credit if he beats a fighter that you lot can't stop talking about. some people say he a top 15 ATG, but if floyd beats him it means nothing. if floyd beats pac then it says that he is a better fighter, there is no way that you can have pac higher on an ATG list.
Hagler beat Duran..Duran is still rated higher ATG... The TS is saying that should PBF beat Pac and PBF then retires, however Pac continues on to beat Mosley & JMM who would be considered greater? I think clearly pac would have the greater legacy.
Itll will be very hard to surpass PACs legacy now but its hard to explain it to ESB... Ask the "other" experts outside this forum..you now the one whos around and covers boxing for a living.
thats a totally different situation. taking into account what floyd has done, and what pac has done, if floyd beats him then he is higher on an ATG list.
Even if Floyd beats Pac, and they both retire right after their fight, Pac is still ahead of Floyd on the ATG list by a fair margin. Floyd doesn't inherit all of Pac's accomplishments by beating him. It would definately add a shitload to Floyd's legacy though.
Mayweather would still have to go on and clean out the divison after that. Mayweather still hasnt had the epic wins that Pac has. Or even the epic losses , meaning ; One of Pacs losses to Morales is still better than anyfight I have seen with Mayweather in it. Corales and Gatti are close as far as performances go , but nieter fighter is Morales. Mayweather will have to clean out the divison in order to put him on Pacs level.
when manny fought a past prime morales he got beat from side to side, morrales even went south port in the last round to show he was too good. when manny fought morales in the second fight, he was washed up and should have retired.
If Pac loses to Floyd it will be regarded as a bridge to far for the Filipino, but he will still be regarded as having the better overall career than Floyd and will still be seen as a higher all-time great than Mayweather due to the fact he won "titles" in 7 divisions and Floyd won them in "only" five. That's why Floyd says he can't win in this fight, and in that regard he's correct. Everybody saw what Floyd did to JMM, a guy who gave Pac all he could handle. I'm not sure many in boxing actually think Pacquiao can beat Mayweather because of the natural size difference, but they still want to see the fight made for the good of the sport. This is like if Bernard Hopkins ends up facing David Haye at the end of his career. Will people think Hopkins is diminished if he loses to Haye? Not really, though it would be a loss. But the upside if Hopkins were to win is enormous. I think a Mayweather fight is similar for Pac, and, again, this is why Floyd says he can't win regardless of the outcome of the bout. Except, of course, he'll make huge $$$ and likely get a "W."
