Should a Floyd vs Pac fight still be made?

    What for?

Time for both Pac & JMM to retire, whatever the outcome.

Yes, stylistically it'd be more interesting than Floyd vs. JMM 2 for example.

I will still watch it but if Pac loses to JMM, he can forget about 50/50 or 55/45.

Only difference is that FLoyd has proven that he can deal with every style and adjust. Pac is having a hard time dealing with a counter puncher in JMM. If he thinks JMM counters good then Mayweather would be Pac's nightmare. Floyd is every way better than JMM. Youth, size, speed, power, strength, and boxing IQ.

I dunno if a loss to JMM really affects Pac's draw that much though, he didnt build his fanbase on an undefeated record. ODLH, SRL, Tyson were still big draws after their losses.

The way I see it is this:

Floyd average PPV not fighting Pacquao: 1-1.4mil
Pac average PPV not fighting Floyd: 1-1.3mil

    Floyd-Pac PPV: 2.5-3mil+

Basically, neither guy is gonna generate over 1.5mil buys outside of each other. When Floyd fights Pac its not gonna make 3mil PPV because Floyd is in it, it's not gonna make 3mil PPV because Pac is in it, its gonna make 3mil because BOTH are in it.

It is therefore obvious that the huge ppv buys are a result of a combined effort, not necessarily just the fans they each bring to the table but NEW fans that will watch it just because of the event, which can only happen if both are on it.

So if its a combined effort and the numbers can only be generated if both are on, why isn't the split equal, or at least close to it?

Different styles of counterpunchers. MAB is a solid counterpuncher and arguably beat JMM in a counterpunching game, Pac beat him handily.

This is like saying if Ali couldn't handle Norton, then he is ****ed by Holyfield. if he struggled so much against Frazier, then Tyson would destroy him.

I don't see it. Floyd is the sharpest counter puncher in the game today. Floyd is able to counter everyone and been relying on that style ever since he hit WW. Even if Pac does get inside, he still have to deal with Floyd's inside game, consisting a ton of uppercuts and pull counters.

JMM is also not quick enough to interrupt Pac from coming in but rather throw when Pac throws. Floyd lead rights hits his opponents right when his opponent is thinking about throwing a punch. ALso Floyd watches his opponents feet and as soon as they are off balance taking a step forward, they get hit. Seen this time and time again which is how Floyd is able to pin his opponents at bay.

If Pac give an ounce of respect to Floyd, he would lose badly.

The fight would of done 3 mill in 2009 or 2010. In 2013 it might be able to break 2 mill. Forget 3 mill

Pac inside from a southpaw stance. I think you box so you might know what I'm taaking about, picture the southpaw stance against the shoulder roll, now imagine Floyd against the ropes against Pac's southpaw straight left? Remember what Shane's right hand did to Floyd, remember what Pac's straight left did to Shane? Now picture, 8 punch combination from Pac, not the wide combinations Ortiz or Cotto was throwing which PBF can see and roll with, or the messy slaps Oscar was trying to do, but legit fast rapid fire short punches from Pac. Similar to that famous GIF of him pumelling Oscar by the ropes with 4 punch combo.

I can easily see Pac knocking Floyd out, and IMO Floyd can easily see this scenario too. IMO Pac can see this scenario too, hence why he referenced Hatton, ODLH, and now Cotto fight with Floyd as to how Floyd's toughest fights are with pressure guys. Floyd dont like pressure fighters and southpaws as much as Pac dont like counterpunchers. Floyd's fight with Castillo was as close as Pac's fights with JMM, except JMM is a much better fighter overall.

However, a more likely scenario is, FLoyd backpedals, Pac chases lunging in, repeatedly gets countered everytime he attempts to close in, gets frustrated and starts to plod second half of the fight and just gets outboxed silly wide decision 12-0 shutout. I'm sure Floyd can see this scenario too.

I can understand if you don't think it will happen, probably it wont happen (the first scenario) but you have to "see" where the danger lies.

    Pac-JMM 3 did around 1.3mil. Floyd-Cotto did 1.4mil.

ODLH previous fight to Floyd did 900k. Floyd did 300k previous to ODLH. Both were arguably the biggest draws at the time along with Pac, obviously ODLH much more so. When they got together, it did 2.4mil.

Now looking at the numbers above, you telling me Floyd-Pac will barely do 2mil? It breaks 3mil easy. The hype and buildup for Floyd-Oscar wasnt even 1/10th of the hype for Floyd/Pac, however much the interest has dwindled. Although interest is only lower cos most thinks it will never happen, the interest is revived if the fight was announced tomorrow, fact.
