How could a fight at 140 be discredited due to a fight at 145?

Everybody pretty much KNOWS what the ODLH fight was...but I've yet to see how the Hatton fight would be tarnished.

And before anyone starts saying Im a Pac hater, let me tell you Im a big Pac fan, and even though I think Cotto will win ronight, I will still say Pac is better than Cotto, just smaller.

:patsch Only reason Pac might lose is because Cotto is naturally so much bigger. Manny is no doubt the better fighter and because hes fighting above his weight class it doesnt matter much even if he loses.

Still awaiting reasoning as to how Hatton at 140 is in any way affected.

Likewise on the David Diaz fight as well now that I think about it.

because everyone will just say hatton was washedup.... people were saying hatton was done after his fight with juan lazcano...

i dont really feel stupid.... if he beat cotto & even does it convincingly people will be saying some outrageous **** about pacman....

People have been discrediting all of Manny's big wins since he's became the darling of boxing.

Ledwaba was a nobody, MAB was washed up, EM was washed up, JMM was robbed etc etc etc.

People who think Hatton is washed up will think that regardless of what happens with this fight. It's the way it goes.

Obviously Hatton wasn't washed up as he stopped the no 2 JWW and durable Malignaggi AFTER Lazcano.

Pac just was so good then.

    It's Hatton's fault he didn't have a good camp.

This is 100% correct and it happens to all top fighters.

    RJJ - Cherrypicker
    Hopkins - Fights smaller guys.
    Floyd - Cherrypicker

and the list goes on and on. Because of the "fanboy" element of boxing, there will always be fans of rivals who will detract from fighters wins.

There's always backlash against anybody after a fight.

    ESB rule.

It will die in a week, besides it's not the good posters who do it.

If pac loses they can just say he went one weight too far and then he can go on and fight marquez. If cotto loses badly then people will say that he is not the same fighter he used to be. It is do or die for cotto.

Talk of Manny as an ATG is premature at this stage. He's still an active fighter, isn't he?

Even if he loses to Cotto, he'll have lost to a fellow elite who was operating at a significant size advantage.
